'More tar' in cannabis than cigarettes

SMOKING three cannabis joints will cause you to inhale the same amount of toxic chemicals as a whole packet of cigarettes, according to research published in France today.
Cannabis smoke contains seven times more tar and carbon monoxide, the French National Consumers' Institute concluded in research published in the April edition of its monthly magazine.
The institute tested regular Marlboro cigarettes alongside 280 specially rolled joints of cannabis leaves and resin in an artificial smoking machine.
The tests examined the content of the smoke for tar and carbon monoxide, as well as for the toxic chemicals nicotine, benzene and toluene.
"Cannabis smoke contains seven times more tar and carbon monoxide than tobacco smoke," the institute's magazine says.
Someone smoking a joint of cannabis resin rolled with tobacco will inhale twice the amount of benzene and three times as much toluene as if they were smoking a regular cigarette, the study says.
Smokers of pure cannabis leaves will also inhale more of these chemicals than from a normal cigarette, though the amount varies depending on the quantities.
"Smoking three joints every day which is becoming frequent makes you run the same risks of cancer or cardio-vascular diseases as smoking a packet of cigarettes," the magazine says.
Cannabis is "by far" the most popular illicit drug in France, it says. The number of cigarette smokers and people drinking alcohol fell in 2005, while the number of cannabis users has increased in France in the past five years.

Ooooh. Cannabis is harmless and you have a 1930 report which says so.
Color me unimpressed.

"If pot was as cheap as tobacco (and why wouldn't it be if it was legal like tobacco) I expect you wouldn't see those behaviors."It is if you grow your own. And it's still smoked down to the last nanometer.
You guess wrong.

"Bob Randall, a onetime cabdriver who lives in Washington, D.C., is one of eight people in the country who can legally smoke marijuana. In fact, the government has been supplying him with it for nearly 20 years."
"In the early 1970s, Randall was diagnosed with glaucoma and was told that his eyesight was deteriorating so rapidly he would be blind in a few years. None of the conventional glaucoma drugs reduced the disease's elevated pressure within his eyes."
"Randall smokes eight to 12 joints a day--without the unpleasant side effects associated with conventional glaucoma drugs."

"But what about the Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church Study?"Which one? The 1814 double-blind study or the follow-up 1836 trial using paid volunteers?
I tend to give less credence to a study where they pay people. Also, didn't Soros fund both of those?

"Almost every marijuana using population uses paper filters (like cheap russian cigs), and also throw in resin in their cones(cheaper and easier to transport for the drugrunners)."
Most smoking hash in joints though use tobacco instead of marijuana to roll their filtered "cones." A lot of them even mix tobacco with their pot buds. I could see people using filters here, but only of pot was cheaper. If it was cheaper I don't think people would be smoking even the butts of joints either. If you look back to the Great Depression era in this country, poor people who liked cigarettes would follow a man a mile to pick up his cigarette butt, at least that's what my depression era grandfather used to say people did back then. I knew a guy in college who would actually save cigarette butts people would leave in ashtrays and roll his own from the resinous tobacco in the butts, which is pretty disgusting. But he couldn't afford to buy tobacco. In prison, I'm told, inmates buy "rollies" which are skinny little unfiltered cigarettes. From what I understand, a regular filtered cigarette is broken down into three "rollies." They'll pay a couple of bucks for one of these little skimpy cigarettes. Guards apparently bring in packs of cigarettes or bags of tobacco and inmates sell it for way more than what it is worth "in the world." I hear those guys paying a couple of bucks for a tiny cigarette smoke every last bit of one when they get it too. When they get out of prison though where cigarettes are relatively cheap, they go back to smoking filtered cigarettes and put them out before they burn down to the filter, not worrying about wasting a little bit of tobacco. It's all about the money.

I don't have a problem with marijuana and would legalize it in a heartbeat. But it is funny to me that some people who are health nazis are pro marijuana and anti tobacco. Seems pretty hypocritial to me.
Smokers, both tobacco and marijuana, should stick together and fight these intrusive, nanny state, health-nazi laws and sin taxes that punish smokers for making an individual choice to smoke.

Ooooh. Cannabis is harmless and you have a 1930 report which says so. That's as far as you could get in the report? That must be why you've never read any of the other reports. Illiteracy is a manufactured product of the Left, keep trying to read and you might learn something if you stick to it. Good luck!

mojave and robertpaulsen go into their circus clown routine to get the topic moved to the Smoky Backroom. They can't win with fact and reason so killing the thread is their only recourse.

Government farmed pot is not quality bud like the medical marijuana found in the cannabis clubs. Those glaucoma patients who use medical marijuana found in the cannabis clubs don't need the 12 joints per day paulsen quoted for the patient on government pot.
