FAIRFAX, Va. - A Chantilly High School teacher accused of giving marijuana to a student was arrested at his home on Monday. Thomas Newlun, 53, faced charges including marijuana distribution and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to police, Newlun allegedly gave a small amount of marijuana to a 17-year-old student after class last Friday. The boy then gave the drugs to a school security officer.
Fairfax County Public Schools spokesman Paul Regnier said Newlun is on administrative leave without pay.
Newlun, a special education teacher, started working for the system in 1989, and except for being out one year, has been there since.

The story just seems implausable, but the kind of lie a really stupid teanager would come up with.
When will they ever learn?
We had a drama teacher in high school who smoked pot with kids in his theater. Looking back, how stupid was that!
Ah, the good old days. now, the wildest thing I do is ice cream bars. ha.
So what's the problem? The dopers all claim that pot is harmless.
Harmless!! I've never said that!
Pot is GOOD for you! It's probably the best thing there is! Definitely better than food or water. Better than booze and smokes. Yep, it's just about the best thing there is.

When I was in high school smoking a cigarette in the boy's room was a big deal.
Two years after I graduated they were smoking weed in the boy's room.
And some of the teachers were having pot parties for the kids at their homes.
But we did come up with some interesting ways to cover up the smell.

Same here, didn't hit my college till after me. The first time I smelled cannabis was later, after school, when I went to the landlord with the rent and he answered the door reeking of the stuff. The blue, smoky room behind him cinched my suspicions.
Ooooh that smell, can't you smell that smell?
After many years, I am still stunned that I knew what it was the first time I smelled it. It was not a topic of conversation or news at the time. It is a very nice smell, though hard to describe.
Smells great when burned and good, fresh weed smells great too.
And tastes like candy...or bubblegum!
Its an herb! Its supposed to smell (and taste) good.
Mojave doesn't know what he's missing.
It's an herb. That's why it smells spicy.
I don't even think Mojave knows it's evajom backwards.
