"It's a sign of how difficult it is to enforce laws even as modest as the provisions of Sensenbrenner's bill," said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies. "They are furiously opposed by activist groups."
Since public opinion polls constantly indicate that an overwhelming rainbow coalition of everyday Americans oppose illegal immigration, why don't the politicians inside the Beltway do something about it -- like maybe defending the southern border to stop the invasion?
"Overwhelming support for something does not automatically translate into policy," Mr. Krikorian said. But the intensity of the opinion matters a lot. It's not a high-priority issue for most Americans. But for those who favor illegals (to derive money or power) it is much more important, he said.
Why are some Americans not so passionate about defending the border?
"The main reasons are ambivalence about immigration and fear about name-calling," Krikorian said.

Not sure where you teach, but if your school is in any way taxpayer funded, coming into your classroom to promote this should not have been allowed by the administration. If I was a taxpayer in your area I would be asking someone to explain that to me.

The Nazi reference came from a post that was deleted, many responded to that post. It confused me too, until I realized what happened. With the original post gone the replies don't make sense. I think the only one that was trying to equate any of this to Nazi behavior was in the deleted post.

It is taxpayer funded. And I'm pretty sure the adminstration invited him in. If the administration didn't invite him, then I know for sure that he wasn't there without their knowledge and consent.

I'd like to know why enforcing the immigration laws is NAZI like.
I don't appreciate your Commie like smears. Or since you seem to be rather left-wing, your McCarthyite Smears.
This is a Nazi:
This is what they did:

I think the only one that was trying to equate any of this to Nazi behavior was in the deleted post. I have Polish realtives who had to deal firsthand with real nazis. Perhaps I am a tad oversensitive when it comes to the use of that word...its use on this post was intellectually dishonest to say the least; and it pissed me off.

Why, how can this be? I thought illegals were all timid, hardworking people living in the shadows, terrified to show themselves lest this mean, unfair country deport them!
Well, let them show their arrogance. It will only tick more Americans off, and bring us one step closer to the day when enough Americans and legal residents finally rise up and demand they be deported.

OK, I'm sick watching this. CLTV, a local all news cable outlet is covering the 100k and the 9 People who held a protest in support of upholding our immigration laws. I'm exagerating on the 9 but it's so small.
I admire the courage of the Local Minuteman (Minutewoman - the lead spokewoman is a gutsy lady). But the contrast in crowd size is disheartening.
I count the days living in this City.

"I don't care if there's three million people out there, if they are illegal they do not have a voice in America," Pulido said. Just listening to Fast Eddie Vrodolyak on Roe Conn's radio show. Eddie said, "They may not be legal, but they're still Americans."
I kept thinking, does not compute, does not compute!
To: Nea Wood
You forgot to include how they are all just dying to vote republican. What theyre waiting for Im not sure but Im sure they are really on our side.

Shocking, just shocking that fellow Freepers would accuse someone of being a Nazi for thinking those that are here illegally should be sent home. It cheapens what the Nazi's were and what they stood for and what they actually did.
The illegals should go home and fix their own country. As a neighbor, I am willing to help them if they are serious.

"I'd like to know why enforcing the immigration laws is NAZI like."
Both the posters comments were so offensive #33 #37 that they were pulled by the mods....they advocated shooting and burning the protesters....nothing about enforcing current law.
So maybe you should like ....do something intelligent for once.... such as READ THE FRIGGIN THREAD....before posting absurd comments. By the way don't take this as a commie like smear, rather a comment on your intelligence.

It really gets me. My Russian born wife is a citizen of the US, but it will take 10 years for her daughter to immigrate to the US. And that she is in the First Family Preference category. However, these ILLEGAL ALIENS think they should be able to walk across and get citizenship. It's WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!
