We don't need isolationism, we need to eliminate socialism.

Take a look at what percentage of one's income goes to taxes. Then look at the minimum wage laws, and other financial losses most companies must incur by law just to stay in business. On top of that add unions which mostly just demand more pay for less work. Result is: the cost of doing business in the USA is so high it's cheaper to send it elsewhere.

Unfortunately, socialism is getting so ingrained, and is so complex, that it's far easier to call for isolationism - which is just another form of socialism.

Don't just call isolationists ignoramuses, explain why socialism is the problem and why isolationism is just protecting/reinforcing socialism.

India has existed for a long time. But only in the last decade or so have we been heavily outsourcing

Could it be that the EEOC, OSHA, and all the other alphabet-soup agencies have made it uneconomical to employ people in the US?

WHen you outsource to a company in India, rather than employ people internally, you don't have the EEOC staring over your shoulder to make sure you employ enough Black programmers (here is a list of all black CS PhDs. It's not long), you don't have sexual harassment lawsuits when one of your female engineers takes offense over what her manager says, etc, etc

BINGO!!
You can't whine about "Out-Sourcing" until you understand OUT-FORCING! 3+ Decades of socialism has OUT-FORCED And made uncompetitive MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of US Jobs! How many of you folks think the term "RUST BELT" is something that came along since Bush was in office??

It's not WALMART chasing our jobs overseas, it's Over-Regulation, Over-Unionization, Over-taxation, stifling environmental rules, and my personal favorite, UNLIMITED CIVIL LIABILTY!!

Until we get a handle on ALL of these (and we aren't even trying) that giant sucking sound is your JOB, leaving America......
(Proper credit for that last quote to the Big ear'd guy it's due...)

When you add the impact of taxes, government regulation on businesses, and union wage inflation you must also add the government run school system. We have the least amount of engineers graduating from our colleges than any industrialized nation. We have the highest rate of students dropping out of high school. A business is only so glad there is a highly educated worker in India with good foreign language ability (English).

You can only let our kids watch so much TV and play video games so long before it starts impacting their ability to compete in the world marketplace.
