"Naw, the Dems will shut up once they realize that the only US company that could actually fulfill this contract is Halliburton."

Two things:

Sen. Shumer has stated that he would support Halliburton over the Dubai company, that's how bad this thing stinks.

America should be ashamed of itself that we can't find Americans to do the job. I'd rather see it temporarily militarized than to hire our own enemies, (and Dubai openly supports the Taliban and the Iraqi 'insurgents'). And Dubai made it possible for the 9/11 terrorists to do their thing by providing fake passports and laundered money.

If we are to get hit again by terrorists, I'd prefer that it wasn't because of our own stupidity/insanity.

I would think that, with the awful threat of a nuclear weapon unloaded through one of our ports and then detonated in a city looming large, the Bush administration would see to it that NO Arab country have anything to do with managing said ports.

Americans already do the job. I'm guessing that at least 99% of the employees at these port facilities are Americans.

The real question is whether or not American investors are willing to pony up $6.8 billion to buy P&O Ports. The answer is clearly "No," for any number of reasons.
