WASHINGTON (CNS) -- The president of the U.S. bishops blasted a recent episode of the cable television comedy "South Park" that he said showed Mary in "a tasteless and ugly fashion."
In a Dec. 14 letter to Tom Freston, co-president and chief operating officer of Viacom International, parent company of Comedy Central, the cable channel that shows "South Park," Bishop William S. Skylstad of Spokane, Wash., said the channel showed "extreme insensitivity" in choosing to show the episode.
The episode, which first was shown Dec. 7 and had repeat showings in the week following, was titled "Bloody Mary." During the episode, a "South Park" character claims to have been sprayed with blood from a bodily orifice of a Virgin Mary statue.
When Pope Benedict XVI investigates in the show, he declares that she was merely menstruating. The episode's premiere date came the day before the feast of the Immaculate Conception, a holy day of obligation for Catholics.
South Park is better than any other show on television at mocking and showing the folly of the things that have been degarding our culture and that we should work to restore our traditional values.
Episodes such as "Cartman's silly hate crime", "chickenlover", "Conjoined Fetus Lady", "Rainforest Schmainforest", "Sexual Harassment Panda", "Cherokee Hair Tampons", and "Goobacks" are just a few examples of episodes that absolutely skewer the left and what their mindset has wrought upon our society and their works must be reversed.
Kyle is the Jew. And when Cartman told him he should go to a concentration camp I was shocked for about half a second and then I laughed so hard I about pissed myself.
There is not a single post condeming anyone who doesn't like or watch South Park. What there are though is post condeming you and others like you who repeatedly and purposely LIE about the show.
ahhh, wasn't the point of those episodes to "never bet against Jesus", not mocking him.
He's a Ginger.
Kyle is the Jew. And when Cartman told him he should go to a concentration camp I was shocked for about half a second and then I laughed so hard I about pissed myself.Even funnier was when Cartman got the Mel Gibson fans to "chant in Aramaic".
Matt Stone is ethnically Jewish, I don't know how observant he is.

I get a kick out of the knuckleheads here who quote Calvin as an authority on anything, really.
He was very smart, said some wise things, and was rightfully disgusted with the corruption.
But: (1) he conflicted himself repeatedly (you can mine quotes from him all day long) and (2) he generally referred to Roman Catholics as "papists" and "Mary-worshippers" "idolators" etc., which is hardly constructive.
again chamberlintroll, without seeing the show, your accusations are absolutely baseless.
Not surprising, coming from you either.
It's damn embarassing for FR; a stereotype, if you will. Some may be DUmmie plants. They hate South Park, and the smarter ones recognize its power as a spreader of libertarian/conservative concepts.

Remember the skit with Rosie O'Donnell showing up to defend some kid in school because he was being discriminated?? That was really funny. They really slammed Rosie there. She showed up because he lost an election and kept demanding recounts. The show aired 8 days after the 2000 election.

"A statue in a Catholic Church is no more than a painting or icon hanging on the wall. It is looked at with reverence and for inspiration. It is not being worshipped."
I agree that this is the official position of the RCC.
(And I also agree that Mary is blessed among all women.)
But I think the point is that there is increased idolatry invading the RCC, largely from South of the border, where the RCC is, too often, really just a thin veil placed on top of pre-Columbus paganism.
"Are you incapable or reading and comprehension?"
Well, he thinks "from the same womb" doesn't mean sibling, so yes.
The thing is you have to be smart and knowledgeable to "get it."
Like Eddie Izzard.
Maybe that's the problem here; they don't understand anything.
Don't forget the Mormons. The episode telling the story of Joseph Smith is one of my all-time favorites. And when the Mormons turned out to be "the correct answer" and the sole occupants of Heaven, Satan sent Saddam Hussein there as punishment.

South Park did a spoof of "Schindler's List"Which compared extreme "political correctness" to Naziism.
Yep, they're just leftist agitators aren't they?

That would be against Gods ordained order... Nowhere in scripture does it say Mary retained her virginity, why? Because she didn't. If it was a major point for doctrine, scripture would say so and not be kept a mystery.
Next... Salvation comes from Jesus Christ, not by Mary..." no one comes to the Father, but by me...". Jesus didn't say, ah, if I am busy go see my mom...
And secondly, after living as a Catholic and being in Catholic predominant 3rd world countries, there is definitely more Mary worshiping than Jesus worshiping. There is the Lord's Prayer to the Father and then there is a prayer to Mary... but where is the Prayer to Jesus?
Yes, scrawling anti war grafittie on government property really helps the war effort /sarcasm."Anti-war"? Or perhaps, "I did my part, I'm outta here"?
Can't have "graffiti" on government property though, can we?

"You're a little late to the party, pal; and you are wrong."
A. I posted 3rd in this thread. So it is YOU who are late to the party, 'pal'.
B. I've yet to see an episode hostile to Judaism. That doesn't mean no such episodes exist - only that I HAVE NOT SEEN THEM, 'pal'.
C. Try to avoid such ignorant responses, 'pal'.
I would think the episode where Catholic priests were all child molesters would be thought of as worse. How about "The Most Offensive Song Ever Written" on the "Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics" CD? >:)
