South Park is for people raised in the 60s - and the kids to whom they transmitted the "values" of that era - that there's no right or wrong, vulgarity is beautiful and the only thing we have to fear is religion and traditional morality. It's the era that gave us hippies, yippies, raging VD epidemics, gay "pride", -- and paved the way for Lenny Bruce wannabes like the South Park writers. It also gave us millions of people who think it's "cool" to laugh at bathroom humor and blasphemy. Many of those folks are freepers and, ironically, call themselves "conservative."

I think I now know why Thomas Sowell said he is pessimistic about America's moral future and what kind of future it is leading us to. He said he is glad he is old and won't have to see it.

It's these types of "moral indignationists" that gives conservatism a bad name; or at least, makes me waste precious minutes of my life defending myself against liberals. This "what's good for me is good for you" attitude sucks.

I know what you mean: the ugly face of conservatism; the ones people point to when they talk about how mean-spirited we are.

But think about this: how miserable their lives must be when they have to come on an internet forum to try to denigrade people they don't even know with their piousness, just to puff themselves up. UGH. Glad it's not me.

It's wonderful that you're exposing your contempt for Catholicism and for Our Blessed Lord's Mother. People on FR need to know what kind of person you are, since you so frequently take it upon yourself to police others' posts.

Interesting that one as judgmental as you -- always slamming people for not being politically correct on some issue that you care about -- are now chastizing others for taking offense at "comedy" that spits on their religion. The "brothers and sisters" of Jesus are never referred to as the sons and daughters of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Where were all of His "siblings" at the crucifixion and why did He entrust the care of His mother to John, brother of James the Greater and son of Zebedee and Salome, when he chastised the Pharisees in Matthew 15 regarding the care of one's parents? To assign a blood relationship to these "brothers and sisters" shows a complete lack of comprehension of the context in which those words were used in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic.

Those who claim that the Blessed Mother gave birth to other children are ignorant linguistic literalists. I would venture that none of them realize that Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, et al, believed in and taught of the perpetual virginity of the Blessed Mother and that Jesus was an only child.

I'm saying that people saying how bad South Park is, tell us that Christianity is the only religion attacked on the show (LIE, post 205), as one example. As to the foul language, I could care less, because it is an ADULT show.

I, a conservative, Republican, white, senior citizen, with several degrees, watch "South Park" all the time. Usually, it is outrageously funny. It pokes fun at EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. It is as someone said an "equal opportunity offender". Its wonderful as a values clarification tool.

My favorite episodes are those about Saddam and his "bitch" the devil.

Yet, I don't express outrage over it because it is a blasted cartoon and I have enough stuff to get outraged about like real blasphemies...artists painting pictures of Jesus with elephant dung etc.

I have nothing but contempt for people who perform idolatry. Which happened to be the whole point of the South Park episode. It was making fun of people who worship these statues or grilled cheeses because they are performing idolatry.

I think the show's an offensive, raunchy but hilarious skewering of many cultural sacred cows, most of which are liberal, not conservative.
