ID is a dead issue. It died with the Dover school board decision. To discuss ID futher only gives it more life than it deserves. The only people even interested in trying to discuss ID are people that believe it.

Prediction: This post will be responded to with the usual chants of "evolutionists refusing to debate the merits of evolution". The ID'ers, as did the Dover court, have heard the arguments. But the ID'ers refuse to acknowledge they heard then repeat their chant again in a circular fashion. Therefore, why even engage ID'ers. They are not intellectually honest nor do they ever intend to be.

"ID is a dead issue. It died with the Dover school board decision."

I suppose the issue of slavery died with the Dred Scott decision? And the issue of abortion with Roe v. Wade?

What gives this hack judge who probably never studied anything but the minimum science required by his pre-law degree, any qualification to determine what is and is not science?

Well said--I've just finished reading the entire 139 page opinion of Judge Jones. Not only is he one of the most respected district judges in the Third Circuit, my buddies in the region tell me that his insightfulness and intellect are valued throughout the northeast. Having read the opinion, I believe that it is unassailable and will be adopted by the appellate courts should the Dover School District elect that option.

Judge Jones' findings of facts and analysis of the factual record are careful and appear precise. The conclusions of law that follow his factual findings are supported by the governing caselaw authority.

DaGman,

While I personally subscribe to the theory of evolution I would NEVER force on other parent's children.

The problem isn't evolution it IS having compulsory attendance, compulsory tax funded government schools.

Education can NEVER be free of political, cultural, or religious consequences. Evolution or intelligent design is merely one of HUNDREDS of issues that have religious CONSEQUENCES for the children.

The solution is to begin the abolishment of government involvement in education. No matter how government approaches this topic or any of hundreds of other issues, the government will ESTABLISH the political, cultural, and religious beliefs of some and undermine those of others.

For those children who do not have an alternative armed police, social workers threatening foster care, and court action stand ready to FORCE attendance. For the citizen who can not or objects to government school taxes, armed sheriffs will auction homes and businesses to pay for government education. This what government education is: ARMED police enforced non-neutral indoctrination of children.

Since this government education will establish political, cultural, and have non-neutral religious consequences, it is fundamentally unconstitutional on both the state and federal levels.

Parents, teachers, and principals should be negotiating these many matters privately in PRIVATE schools.
