Teen dad profiled in People mag is killed

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- An 18-year-old single father whose struggle raising his toddler daughter was featured in People magazine has been killed in Philadelphia.

Terrell Pough was shot in the head on his way home from work Thursday night and later died at Temple University Hospital, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Police said they have no suspects but do have a possible lead. No further details of the slaying were released.

The August issue of People profiled Pough, who worked as the night manger at a local restaurant while attending school full-time and raising his daughter, Diamond, who will be 2 on Nov. 27.

"She's what I work for, what I live for, why I wake up," he told People. "She's everything."

Diamond, who had full-custody of his daughter, had planned to work in construction after graduating next June.

"If something ever happens to me, no one can ever tell her that her dad didn't take care of her," he told People.

Also, it was just pointed out to me that you love to tell people that they "had their head handed to them" on a certain thread. Which I think is childish...but this person pointed out that you had your head handed to you on the Harriett threads...so maybe that is why you are confusing me with someone who participated on those threads. You know, it never ceases to amaze me how often we miss the entire point of Christianity.

Christ names our sin and convicts us of it. But his blood covers the consequences and price of our sin, thus giving us the chance to accept that gift.

Without Christ, our sin kills us. With Christ, we are forgiven and given another opportunity.

Without love and forgiveness, our judgment is nothing but a clanging bell. (To paraphrase, of course.) This concept is often as mischaracterized by the right as it is by the left.

Mistakes we all make prior to knowing the Lord. Yes his choices were poor in creating life before marriage. He did, however, allow her to be born in a very pro-death culture. He worked hard to try to provide
for her.

How sad she'll not know her Daddy! He obviously loved her.

The comparison with the Pharisees may be overused, but in this case it is entirely accurate.

Bound by the law, but having no understanding of grace. And grace is what it's all about.

I have found that whenever I see myself as morally superior because of what I have or haven't done, that I am most guilty of sin.

As you so eloquently stated, it is only through the blood of Jesus that ANY of us are cleansed. That's why we are to focus on keeping ourselves pure, and not running around condemning others..........especially those whose hearts we do not know whom we only have read about on the Internet.
