PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- An 18-year-old single father whose struggle raising his toddler daughter was featured in People magazine has been killed in Philadelphia.
Terrell Pough was shot in the head on his way home from work Thursday night and later died at Temple University Hospital, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Police said they have no suspects but do have a possible lead. No further details of the slaying were released.
The August issue of People profiled Pough, who worked as the night manger at a local restaurant while attending school full-time and raising his daughter, Diamond, who will be 2 on Nov. 27.
"She's what I work for, what I live for, why I wake up," he told People. "She's everything."
Diamond, who had full-custody of his daughter, had planned to work in construction after graduating next June.
"If something ever happens to me, no one can ever tell her that her dad didn't take care of her," he told People.
Are you a Christian, mic?
Actually over the past few years I've read stories about white fellow's who've done this sort of thing... in fact 10 years or so ago there was a "made for TV" movie based on an actual case. It was primarily about the court fight they (he and his parents) had to get the child.
I don't think the people story has anything to do with his being black.
It's MLC and yes.
"I don't think the people story has anything to do with his being black."
Oh, okay.
(btw, I'm still waiting for a quote backing up your claim that this young man 'bragged' about his sin).
Look at the love in his face.
Rest in peace, Terrell . . . prayers up for Diamond.
You don't think young guys brag about getting girls pregnant? Are you around young guys often? Whether he did or not wasn't my point. My point was it would have been much better had he and his girlfriend not gotten themselves in such a position. If you want to argue that point, I will. And I believe the Bible speaks of the "unpardonable sin" and I took it to mean blasphemy but I'm open to your suggestions.
>>>>>>>>>Now, if one was to get killed in a bad neighborhood by being in the wrong place in the wrong time I might expect that the person would be killed in a robbery or car jacking, or some other scuffle, not execution style...I'll give the man the benefit of the doubt but since the original write up was in People magazine, I'm skeptical...There's more to the story here...<<<<<<<<<<
Some of the other accounts say he was shot in the back of his head in front of his home, and his is car was missing. We can't assume anything at this point.
Does that sum it up pretty well?
Keep in mind, please, that I am what one might call a 'purist' when it comes to sexual sins. Only in marriage, ever. Always wrong any place else, and usually having dire consequences when God's law is broken. No compromise. That is my view on Biblical morality.
That said, I find myself being appalled at your arrogance toward this young man, who did his best to right the wrong and do the responsible thing.
I'm not seeing that square with solid, Biblical teaching........at all.
What does that have to do with your condemning the boy for things you don't even know he's done?
I think he was trying to BREAK the cycle/pattern. Do you no see THAT?
From the enablers here to the enablers in the US Congress, with their midnight basketballs, their foo stams. The vicious cycle continues, as the compassionate conservatives morph into bleeding heart libs. The worst part is that the media, that we here are supposed to be wary of, promotes and celebrates these ghetto pathologies. Free Tookie the Nobel Prize nominee, indeed!
The debate always takes a turn for the worse when people show up just to parrott what others have said. Some people on FR have no original thoughts or ideas....just a, "ya, I agree with her, she is right, etc..."
But like I said, it went quite all of the sudden!
However, if you listen to the prison guards, they tell a different story.
Come on all you bleeding heart conservatives, jump on the Free Tookie Bandwagon!
I think you addressed that to the wrong poster.
But you are condemning HIM for it.
yellowdog........I haven't gone 'quite.' I'm still here debating the issue. Morality. I'm on the side of Biblical morality.........and you?
Back to the high school rants again I see.
I went "quiet" because I have other things to do; I have my whole family coming for dinner, sins and all.
I imagine you'll be dining alone again, just you and your moral values.
