PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- An 18-year-old single father whose struggle raising his toddler daughter was featured in People magazine has been killed in Philadelphia.
Terrell Pough was shot in the head on his way home from work Thursday night and later died at Temple University Hospital, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Police said they have no suspects but do have a possible lead. No further details of the slaying were released.
The August issue of People profiled Pough, who worked as the night manger at a local restaurant while attending school full-time and raising his daughter, Diamond, who will be 2 on Nov. 27.
"She's what I work for, what I live for, why I wake up," he told People. "She's everything."
Diamond, who had full-custody of his daughter, had planned to work in construction after graduating next June.
"If something ever happens to me, no one can ever tell her that her dad didn't take care of her," he told People.
This story sounds exactly like what this poor young man was trying to do; and now to be mocked by poster on a conservative site is beyond my comprehension.
I mourn him.
Still waiting Howlin....can you nor your buddy find my comment. I don't get to post that much, ya know, I have a life...so it shouldn't be to hard to find. Come on now, we are waiting.....or are you a liar???
Still waiting......
I stand by my words; and I'm sure others saw it.
And it's not the first time you've posted such specious lies; remember the woman who was raped and you insinuated she probably asked for it by the way she dressed?
Here's another one:
Diamond, who had full-custody of his daughter...
Diamond is the daughter.
And, we only came here to see what the story was on the person in the People magazine being killed.
And, in the process, each of us concentrated on different aspics of the news item. I concentrated on the sadness of the child left behind and that it was a shame since the father was trying so hard to better their lives.
Others concentrated on why should any care. On why was he in People in the first place - ignoring the sadness of the current happening.
Others wrote him off altogether because he should not have a baby out of wedlock anyway and chose to make that their point - that we should not be glorifying this man.
So - take your pick.
I understand that young people do not make the wisest decisions and often it costs them even their lives and to me that is an utter tragedy - no matter how they got to that point.
"I take it you've never made mistakes? People who try to right the consequences of their mistakes, rather than blame them on others should be lauded, not criticized."
Free Tookie!
"I agree, something about casting the first stone comes to mind. hmmm."
Yes, this way we can all orient ourselves to the lowest common denominator.
Well said kudos. So-called Christians like her kept me out of the church for the greater part of my life. It wasn't until I finally understood that people like her know nothing of Christ, his gift of salvation or his love that my heart was able to let Him in. Reading her comments has just been a sad, sad, sad experience. If any child is to be pittied, it's the one that endures her.
it is funny isn't it that everything in the 10 commandments has a practical side to it....
They're not that hard to spot, are they?
I don't post that much, it couldn't be that hard to find. Name names on the others who will say they saw it. It is a lie.
And you know, you just can't admit it. Howlin, it must be a slow day for you to have to come and attack me, which is what you are doing, you could care less about this story, it is all about YOU and attacking me.
I just proved it!
How about we judge the kid on what he did after he made a mistake
Amen. This child was doing what alot of grown fathers don't do for their children. It is a shame that his life was snuffed out when he had so much potential. And now his baby won't even remember him....
The same reason Nicky Cruz was lauded and praised by Christians.
The first I heard of this story was on this thread. Yes, he made a mistake...who hasn't? He owned up to it and decided to turn his life around. That's what is so uplifting about his story. I just don't understand why there are a few who insist on more details about his death. What does that have anything to do with his devotion to his daughter? If more comes to light that he was off'd because he wanted out, what will be their reaction? That he deserved his death? It's disheartening to see how self-righteous some people can be.
Oh, and yes, I believe it is wrong to have a child out of wed-lock. But guess what? I had one of 'those' kinds of births when I was a liberal in my college days. From the tone of the few judging this young man, I'm sure I'm fair game for a stupid and WRONG decision I made back then.
"His daughter would have been better off is he would have waited to conceive her after he"
Well true, but once the sperm left the gate and the conception was done then what?
Should he have insisted that the mother kill the child before birth and have it sucked into a stainless steel sink?
Amen to any parent who steps up to take care of their own flesh and blood, regardless of the situation.
You should never look at other people for salvation. Keep your eyes on Jesus. That's where salvation is.
Who is Nicky Cruz?
Please - never let people turn you away from God and Jesus.
Look to what God teaches - not what people do that are striving to follow. None are perfect or will ever be perfect. And, many do not know as much about Christ's love as you do. You will see all kinds. But, that has nothing to do with what you do with your life and your path following your Savior.
Never let the mistakes of Christians affect the relationship between you and God. Too costly for you.
Wow, you're overreacting. I wonder why.
And as usual, you resort to personal attacks.
What I care about is a young man trying to do the right thing -- and people like you making this web site look like a bunch of prigs with your moralistic judgmental remarks.
You are beneath contempt.
BTW, I have read this entire thread; looks like you pretty well had your head handed to you on this thread; you're a "known quanitity" on FR as a mean-spirited self-serving poster.
I surely hope you don't have any children because, if you do, their life will be hell on earth.
BTW, I can ping a few people who can also back up my story about you accusing the woman who was raped of bringing it on herself.
Want me to?
