As to the chaperones, they were trying to be cool and get in the mix.
Their mindset never allowed them to fathom a tragedy like this could happen.
Maybe a better equaution would be things like that do not happen in aruba. "Don't Worry Be Happy" another round of B-21(s)bartender!

Since all of Aruba's evil deeds are covered up WHO knew? I'm sure Natalee's mother and the school did not know that Aruba is not a safe place to send your teens. Apparently there were only a few chaperones to over a hundred teens. They was really no way that they could have chaperoned all the kids individually. I think they were there to basically make sure that everyone got in and everyone caught the plane. It was a chaperone that stayed behind when Natalee missed the plane and it was that same chaperone that called Beth.
I think A much larger number of chaperones SHOULD have gone but who knew??? Really, I had never heard that Aruba was dangerous until now.
