The Mexican army has entered the United States for the first time since 1846.
A military convoy crossed the Rio Grande into Texas Thursday to bring aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina. The unit is headed for San Antonio.
The convoy is carrying water treatment plants, mobile kitchens and supplies to feed storm victims.
The 45 green vehicles will apparently be used to provide water, meals and other help for hurricane survivors from the New Orleans area.
A Mexican naval mission is sailing for New Orleans. Mexico says another convoy and another ship are ready to go.
Back in 1846, Mexican troops briefly marched into disputed territory along the border with Texas which had joined the US ten years earlier.

I thank them for their aid,
But I'll bet they didn't even have to slow down at the US border.

Just wait till the Salvadoran troops get here. They're just getting you used to the idea of foreign troop "helping" us. We'll see blue helmets one of these days.

The unit is headed for San Antonio I'm not sure they really thought that out, we're still kinda sore about the whole Alamo thing here in Texas.

Sounds very generous, if the intentions are truly good. Presumably we'll be doing a head count before they leave?

I find that very disturbing.I welcome all humanitarian aid, but would prefer to have it come from civilian sources.
Knowing what we do about the Mexican military, I wonder how much coke and heroin is packed in those 45 vehicles.

"Mexican troops on U.S. soil? I find that very disturbing."What is even more disturbing is that this could only be happening with the concurrence of the White House. Now Bush can point to how helpful the Mexican government has been and will no doubt use it in some manner to help push his "guest worker" shamnesty plan.
The American people should be outraged.

They're bringing water from Mexico? Well, I guess we're going to start seeing that dysentery we were expecting.

Me, too. Gracias, Mexico.
They're sending us more aid than most places, and it'll get here sooner.
