The Illegal Immigration Emergency: Would a Bill of Impeachment Wake-Up President Bush?
Human Events Online ^ | August 26, 2005 | Patrick Buchanan

Posted on 08/26/2005 9:35:38 AM PDT by hinterlander

On Aug. 12, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson declared a state of emergency "due to a chaotic situation involving illegal alien smuggling and illegal drug shipments" on his southern border. Three days later, Gov. Janet Napolitano followed suit in Arizona.

Reason: the crisis on the border. The ally-ally-in-free immigration policy of George Bush and Vicente Fox, beloved of corporate America, has created a hell on our southern border.

Those Southwestern states are being inundated by illegal aliens trashing ranches, killing cattle, committing crimes and eating up tax dollars. The traffic in narcotics and human beings from Mexico is a national scandal and a human rights disgrace.

What is true of New Mexico and Arizona is true of our nation, which is now home to an estimated 10 million to 15 million aliens who have broken our laws and broken into our country. It is a mark of the cowardice of our . . .

This has gone on my entire life, but never have I seen a President more under siege over it.

I have never seen the state, or the country, more under siege because of illegal immigration. See my post 349---the situation is bad now even in the heartland, because the Bush Administration is even more reluctant to enforce the immigration law than Clinton.

People like you are going to have to decide if they owe their allegiance to a man and his career, or to a nation and its laws. It's that simple.

Employer sanctions are a joke. What cracks me up is how the open border apologists will all say they're a failure but what they don't mention is the government isn't trying to enforce them and never really has.

/Kim

As far as 5 foot tall North Korean dictators with haircuts from 1984 go, Kim is certainly the busiest. Acquiring more "bring bring," "rovery radies," and such--AND he has to brief all of us on how to tear the country down!

As an aside while the DL is away: Barbara Boxer and Co. opposed adding 1,000 more Border Patrol agents to the southern border. Did the OBLs also oppose that legislation?

"This has gone on my entire life, but never have I seen a President more under siege over it"

That's certainly no reason to continue to allow it to happen.

Let's consider what has changed since he took office?

What event could have possibly changed things that would make the border such a national security issue?

Oh. I got it!!

BINGO. And never will----unless "We the People" put the fear of God in them.

"The Buchanan/Tancredo crowd should just go ahead and join Cindy Sheehan and Jane Fonda in their campaign against the war in Iraq."

Way over the top now, aren't they? The nerve. I wonder what the Texas minutemen attending the "You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy" Tour would have to say about this.

I have no idea what you mean by "we have a sleeper DUmmie". Is that a personal attack? I know PLENTY about IRaq and, if you would really listen to the Generals on the ground, you would know that a HUGE percentage of the insurgents are Iraq's--not "terrorists" from other countries". Take your blinders off--these Iraqi's do NOT want us there and they NEVER wanted us there. And, the country is fast sliding into a civil war.

Iraq had ONE terrorist when we went in. It has now become the next Afghanistan for training of terrorists. So, yes--we now ARE fighting terrorists in Iraq but we SURE weren't when we went in. We had a lot more terrorists right here in the US than we did in Iraq.

Bush has created a monster by going to IRaq and we will NEVER extricate ourselves from the mess that has been created.

I'm relatively new to this site but I can see that personal attacks are the order of the day on this site so I will not participate on ANY site where personal attacks are allowed. If people can't honestly discuss a subject without attacking a PERSON, it just shows the ignorance of the participants. It's only people who lack the intelligence to post cogent responses who attack a person. Attacking a person's position should be fair game but name-calling just confirms what I have heard about this site and I know that I don't want to be part of a site like that.

I'm happy to see that EVERYONE on this site is not an idiot who has nothing better to say than calling someone a dummy.

Your assessment about the border is right on target.
