The Illegal Immigration Emergency: Would a Bill of Impeachment Wake-Up President Bush?
Human Events Online ^ | August 26, 2005 | Patrick Buchanan

Posted on 08/26/2005 9:35:38 AM PDT by hinterlander

On Aug. 12, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson declared a state of emergency "due to a chaotic situation involving illegal alien smuggling and illegal drug shipments" on his southern border. Three days later, Gov. Janet Napolitano followed suit in Arizona.

Reason: the crisis on the border. The ally-ally-in-free immigration policy of George Bush and Vicente Fox, beloved of corporate America, has created a hell on our southern border.

Those Southwestern states are being inundated by illegal aliens trashing ranches, killing cattle, committing crimes and eating up tax dollars. The traffic in narcotics and human beings from Mexico is a national scandal and a human rights disgrace.

What is true of New Mexico and Arizona is true of our nation, which is now home to an estimated 10 million to 15 million aliens who have broken our laws and broken into our country. It is a mark of the cowardice of our . . .

We don't want him jailed, we want him forced to take action.

you're ignoring the obvious detrimental effect to our bankrupted hospitals in border states due to free health care for illegals, the drain on welfare, the drain on our education system including giving in state tuition to illegals while PUNISHING out of state american CITIZENS

Yeah but you know the usual song and dance answer to those concerns: a head of lettuce will shoot up to $10.00 if we enforce the law. And who'll clean the toilets and mow the lawns...?

Even if Bush did want to do something serious about illegals, it would never, ever get through the house and senate. They are all prostitutes.

At which time I would also advocate the charge of Treason and the death penalty - for Congress as well.

Why? Bush is letting the country down, not congress (in this instance). Illegal immigration is ALREADY illegal. Bush is the executive in charge of protecting the border, not congress. Do you want congress to pass a law to make it even more illegal?

Or are these screams prompted by the latest ICE round ups: confiscated COMPUTERS, money laundering investigations and the massive Cocaine Seizures in Texas?

Oooo, wow! That makes up for all the illegals costing $9 billion in California alone, harassing citizens, shooting cops...

People like you are going to have to decide whether they owe allegiance to a man and his career, or to a nation and its laws.

The Govenors of NM and AZ declaring an emergency is a sham! Designed to make the Prez look bad. Even though GW is doing a good job looking bad on this on his own. The repubs better take notice because the business sect only has so many votes they can bring in. Likeminded Freepers will make a number of individuals pay dearly in the next elections.

I thought one of the reasons that Atta and the 3 others weren't looked into (ala Able Danger) was because they were here, legally. Any confirmation of this?

Here's the deal. There were at least 5 sources that said they had positive ID of Atta being in the country like 18 months before INS said that he was in the country. But the 9-11 commission said they weren't going to consider those because it was impossible that he could have been here then because the INS said he wasn't here until 18 months later. It was a freaking joke. Like INS had a clue who was coming and going. But to answer your question, he was illegal until he was legal. He wanted an HUD loan to buy a crop duster.

"rightly or wrongly, many are already in service positions, which enable and better my life and lives of others around me"

A guy robs a bank in California, goes to jail, escapes, and comes to Virginia. Once there, he gets a job (under a fake name, fake social security, etc) providing valuable services to people. Your solution is.... ?

He broke the law; let him face the consequences of that action. Good deeds now do not erase the fact that he's an escaped criminal. In the case of illegal immigrants, they've been on the run from law enforcement since the moment they stepped across the border in violation of our laws. Nothing they do now erases that illegal action. Just because the guy built your deck for $50 doesn't mean he's entitled to break the laws of this country.

"So, what do you do? Do you mine the border? Do you have Predator drones surveil the boder using deadly force against families trekking across the NM desert?"

This is so easy; build a big concrete wall and patrol it with National Guard troops. Those who attempt to cross the wall to gain access to the United States are arrested. Those who become violent are dealt with appropriately. You don't use mines, because those aren't able to make intelligent decisions. You do use Predator drones with Hellfire missiles for when the Coyotes decide to start using overwhelming force to bust through checkpoints. Coyote fires at National Guard troops as he's flying through the checkpoint at 90mph, you back away and send him to the next world via Hellfire missile. No sense in wasting perfectly good National Guard troops' lives going against a determined smuggler; just annihilate the smuggler with superior firepower.

"place the pressure on Vicente Fox..tell him, he either solves Mexico's corruption problem...and border issues...or we will for him, Teddy Roosevelt style...because in the end...the Root cause of Southern Illegal immigration, is sadly, Mexico herself."

Unless we're planning to invade and occupy Mexico, we're not going to change a culture of corruption. That's something that the citizens of Mexico must change from within. It's also not our responsibility. The people of Mexico are not being oppressed by a brutal tyrant; they're electing idiots.

The Founding Fathers only wanted the king to respect their God given rights as Englishmen.

"Failure to protect the COUNTRY (not a particular politician or political party), especially in a time of war when the problem has been well-publicized and documented, is a gross dereliction of duty = treason."

====================================

In terms of longevity and in comparison to other historical world powers, the United States of America is but an infant in it's maturity as a government - an "experiment of grand design" if you will.

Revolutions have occurred in each of the major world empires. Large influxes of foreign cultures and immigrants were at the core of each of them.

Read your sentence again. Illegal immigrants are ALREADY here illegally. The existing legislation is being ignored by the Bush administration.

This may seem like a non-sequitor, but it's really not. The Israelis sent like 4 soldiers for every individual they had to carry out of that synagogue. That's the kind of numbers we need to be putting on that damn border if we can't use lethal force.

I've been thinking we need to blow off rounding them up internally for now. It's a fools game as long as they can come right back. Take that manpower and put it on the BORDER. The BORDER is the only game in town.

Let the nay sayers see what 135,000 men could do. We've never tried that at home, have we.

"What real specific action have they taken?"

Publicly recognized a serious problem as a serious problem and brought further national attention to an issue upon which our very survival may hinge. If that's the only thing they do, and they blow the millions in emergency money on blackjack and craps, they've still had a more positive effect on the issue of border security than our own Republican President.
