Terri Schiavo's husband buried her cremated remains in a Clearwater cemetery Monday, inscribing on her bronze grave marker that ``I kept my promise.''

David Gibbs, an attorney for the woman's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, said inscribing the marker that way was a nasty political statement by Michael Schiavo, who held the service and burial Monday before telling her family.

``Obviously, that's a real shot and another unkind act toward a grieving mom and dad,'' Gibbs said.

After earlier announcing plans to bury his wife's ashes in their native Pennsylvania, Michael Schiavo instead interred them at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, near Tampa, his attorney, George Felos, said in a short news release Monday.

I do know this - and as I said before, the one blessing out of all of this is perhaps families are more aware of it. The fact that this sort of thing festers in silence is the ultimate evil. It indicates something wrong with us, as well as with the health care situation. It needs to be remedied.

Peach - that last statement was pejorative and you know it. I dont disagree that this sort of this needs to be addressed, but there was PLENTY of evidence presented from NUMEROUS witnesses and medical experts that Terri was functioning at reasonable levels. SHE WAS NOT BRAIN DEAD. SHE WAS NOT A "VEGETABLE". You seem to be willing to omit that particular information from your statements and cling to the notion that she was an 'immoveable.' And I contend that she was very much a functioning human being whose family was perfectly willing to work with her. Did you miss all that was said about how at the beginning of her incapacitation, there was high promise of therapy giving her some of her independence and life functions back? I guess not, because you are too willing to throw statements like the last one you just made to me as a way to deflect the argument. Its not about whether or not she can be classified a 'vegetable.' Its about NOT STARVING A PERSON TO DEATH. Bottom line, Peach : YOU DO NOT STARVE A PERSON TO DEATH.

So I called her Saturday afternoon and asked her, well, are we a blond or brunette? She said I’m still a blond. But she was very, very upset when I was talking to her. It sounded like she had been crying. I asked her if she was okay. She said she had a fight with Michael. That he was extremely upset with her because she had spent, I think she told me $80, on her hair that day to stay blond.

So I asked her if she wanted me to come over. She didn’t seem like her normal, jovial self. She said that’s okay. I’m going over to Bobby’s. I said are you sure. She was very upset. She said I’m going to Bobby’s. I already talked to him and am going to go over as soon as we get off the phone.

The autopsy results supported court findings during a long legal battle between Schiavo's parents and her husband that she was in a persistent vegetative state, meaning she could not think or feel, pathologists who conducted the autopsy said last week.

Yet this comes directly from the autopsy report:

Dr. Stephen Nelson, Neuropathologist, in a report contained within the autopsy report: "The persistent vegetative state and minimally conscious state are clinical diagnoses, not pathologic ones. ..."

"Neurophysiologic examination alone of the decedent's brain - or any brain for that matter - cannot prove or disprove a diagnosis of persistent vegetative state or minimally conscious state".

I guess I don't consider the m^edia outlets to be very credible after seeing that.

Much has been made of Jackie Rhodes' testimony that she was "worried" about Terri the night before, yet it is nowhere in the transcript. Jackie did say, at trial, that Terri had talked about getting a divorce and the, getting an apartment together. But this was very different from what she said earlier - where she said Michael and Terri were trying to have a baby. Here is part of Felos' cross-exam of Jackie Rhodes' 2000 testimony, wherein he quotes much of her testimony from her deposition the week before as her story had been so embellished at trial (as noted by Greer):

Felos: What I don’t understand is this. I took your deposition --

Jackie: On January 12th.

Felos: Yeah. I guess your recollection is very good. A couple of weeks ago.
I was very specific in asking you what things you talked to Terri about and
what you two confided about.
I’ll read from your deposition rather extensively. It’s important here.
On Page 15, Line 1,


you mentioend that you would each share things that were going on in your life.
You mentioned one of the things that Terri shard was that she was bored in
the evening because her husband worked evenings.

Answer: Um-hmm.

Question: Any other things that you can recall that
Terri shared with you about her life? Things that
were happening in her life?

Answer: they were talking about having, she was
going to the same gynecologist that I was and she did
-- she had not gotten pregnant and I guess they were
going to try to have a child.

You talk on page 6 about the gynecology. The pregnancy. The children.
Then I go on right after that
on Page 16, Line 21:

Question: Are there any other subjects that you can
recall Terri talked to you about besides the one you
mentioned?

Answer: There would be times that Michael
would call her at work and you know be upset and want
to quit his job and she would become upset. So I would
talk to her about that, as my husband would do the same
thing to me. So we could relate.

Campbell: Objection to this line of questioning. So far the testimony he is reading is the same testimony she gave this morning.

Court: With one exception. My notes say Michael called constantly. What he just read, the quote I wrote down is at times.

Felos: It’s the next question, Your Honor. After the one about conversations about the job.

Question: Anything else you can
think of as far as things that Terri, things happening
in Terri’s life that she discussed with you?

Answer: I really can’t remember. It’s been so long.

Can you tell me why two weeks ago I asked you specifically to tell me the
things that Terri told you about in her life and you told me about Mike
calling up, being upset about his job. You told me about the gynecologist.
You told me she was upset about his working evenings, and that was it.
You could not recall anything else.

Now, two weeks later, you come in here and have a long time to think Michael
has done this and that. Terri told me about a divorce. We were going to
live together. Have an apartment. How is it you recall all these things,
but you did not tell me that two weeks ago?

Actually, it's something that you all SAY to convince yourself there's some kind of conspiracy against you all.
