I live across the border in Tennessee and I can tell you I haven't seen a sobriety or any other type of checkpoint except on holidays in years. The last one I saw was sometime around '98 when there was a fugitive lose.

So yeah, I call your spew garbage. Don't go painting all of the south with your leftists drivel. Where you happen to be squatting isn't like the rest of the country.

You want to paint with a broad brush, fine. All you damned yankee transplants are prone to buggery and wouldn't know honesty of it were handed to you wrapped up in a bundle. Keep your northern bigotry to yourself, it won't win you any friends down here.

And I'll give you that about Southerns being more trust worthy (on Avg) I'd definitely agree.

But I'm also a big enough man to call it like it is and not have some foolish geographical bias built into me (because I am from the North).

But the bottom line remains that police checkpoints (that have nothing to do with sobriety - especially when they are taking place at 1pm in the afternoon on both main and backroads!!) - But these police checkpoints are simply ridiculous and WOULD not last up in the North. Not by a long shot!

But down South, people seem to love bending over for local police departments - That is plain and simple.

And if you live in TN - Come on down here to Asheville NC and spend five days I'll guarantee you'll run through a checkpoint or two!! (just drive between Asheville and Spartanburg, SC).
