I agree; I helped things get out of hand and added little or nothing to the discussion.

I'm also in full support of Travis and his value to this forum. His analysis of and ability to see into the future for a country that is run by greedy, corrupt political sellouts is very plausible and probable. Those of us that have continually tried to warn others of the ongoing de-construction of this country as we know it will continue to do so in spite of the low brow name calling of those ignorant, arrogant souls that don't have a clue.

"Nationwide, it is "white" male and married "white" female voting patterns that keep our head above water."

True. And what's also interesting, there's a positive correlation between protestant British ancestry and conservative voting within the white population. On the other hand, a white person with predominantly Irish Catholic ancestry is still more likely to trend to the political left. Old grudges against the English among the Irish die hard and have been transformed in the American context to an aversion of WASPs.

Travis,
Having read the first chapter in your book, and reviewing my posts of yesterday I owe you an apology. I got caught up in the argument and not in the discussion - my wife is an immigrant, I am too thin skinned on that subject.

Thanks brother. Getting that freepmail yesterday (out of the blue) from another freeper calling me a white racist made me go ballistic, and I guess you and I got wrapped around the axle in that fray.

I certainly do not mind your promoting my Debate Handbook. But there is nothing radical about it! I suspect that all of the first five Presidents, even John Adams--if alive today--would not only recommend it. They would have no problem with any Chapter. (For a quick scan of the Table of Contents: Table Of Contents.)

But again thanks for the promo. There are a number of Chapters, relevant to this thread--or at least to many of the comments on this thread. (We do not deal specifically with Los Angeles politics.) The book has been functionally designed as a resource for College students, seeking the best approach to confront the prevailing dogma on the American College or University campus. The arguments are the ones that no "Liberal," has any answer for.

I will make only one other comment. The use of verbal explanations of reality is essential to communicate ideas as to what is real, and what can or should be done about it, if anything. But what is truly sad, in this thread, is that some posters do not seem to have anything but verbal explanations. The posts, to which I refer, without being so nasty as to single out specific posters, simply do not show any understanding of the actual dynamics of what they seek to justify. I would include in that comment, anyone who imagines that those of us who object to changing the human component of an American State are primarily motivated by hostility towards other peoples. That notion, at a Conservative forum, is delusional.

Most of us are here, because we believe in certain enduring values. For some that includes preserving the achievements of American families, the values and culture, passed down in lines of descent, by people who built our unique societies. Unless you understand the dynamic images involved, you do not have a clue what the debate over immigration policy is all about. (And I am just taking the opportunity to make that point. I know very well t_skoz, that you understand the issue quite well.)

Again, thanks!

Actually, the tendency for the older stock to be most likely to vote to preserve the culture their forbears built is only to be expected. But the subject is much more complex than that. The fact is that America--traditional America--was very diverse, ideologically. The unpleasantness in 1861 to 1865, grew in large measure out of that rooted diversity.

Let me suggest to you, Gentlemen, a very useful resource, the central url of which is at University Of Michigan, where you can access a great many historic American works. Search for George Bancroft's History of the United States. His 1873 edition, goes into great detail as to the wealth of differences between the founders of the original States, from earliest settlement, til the Revolution. Understanding that people were drawn to particular settlements by ideology and personality, will explain a great deal about later differences.

There is much less coincidence involved in cultural development than the social manipulators on the Left would ever admit. And conversely, the path to happier human societies is to understand how much of our situation at any moment is derived from our natures, etc.. It is indeed, in their denial of nature, that every form of Socialist experiment must ultimately self-destruct.

The way it currently is, you have IMO two classes in the city.
You have the poor that mostly rent and treat the property like a toilet.
The other class is the low wealthy level and up. The so called middle class homes in Los Angeles are more costly by far than the homes in suburbs. So a 800 foot home in the inner city could easily have two millionaires in it with a combined income of $250,000 or higher.

Anybody not grandfathered into the area who aren't earning $250k are moving to suburbs, Riverside and such as you say mostly out of necessity, not over people issues so far.

I think Villaraigosa is a bigot with a big mouth, and when he gets going, lots of bad violence will be set off.

Bradley was bad enough when he got on TV after a jury verdict and said "He didn't understand why the people of LA are not rioting".
Villaraigosa will make Farakan and Bradley look like choir boys in a year IMO.

Hmm, DUmmies take a post that's a few days old and criticize it.

What's wrong, DUmmies, don't you have the balls to stay current, or like all "progressives" are you trapped in the past?

Thanks. Regarding the link... Well, it's nice that they are reading our board so diligently...

Of course, logic has never been the Dem's strong suit.

If Hispanics outnumber whites in Los Angeles almost 2 to 1 ( all right, 48/31, to be accurate), why are THEY still considered MINORITY? I suppose that never occurs to them that there is something wrong with that.

And of course they didn't take the trouble to quote me, when I spoke up that the issue with Villaraigosa is NOT that he is Hispanic, but that HE is racist and a communist.

Let this be a warning to everyone, that anything we post is subject to being taken out of context, and be better make sure our comments aren't such that they can be used maliciously against us.

I am not going to soil myself to get into the mud with "THOSE people".

Maybe they will see this post, if they read this thread, and if not, well, what they can't do much with what I said.

To: CCG -- check out the link of the post I am responding to. Looks like we (you and I) are becoming infamous in the right/wrong circles.

Yeah, I've got an account over there and was looking to pad my posting numbers and saw that thread, so I thought you two might like the chance to respond.

ROFL. I can't say that I am 'honored,' lol. What a bunch of idiots!
They replaced my strike-out with parentheses, which totally changed the meaning. My post said:
"a city that is 48 percent Hispanic, 31 percent white, 11 percent Asian and 10 percent black"

Are you sure they didn't mean:

"a city that is 48 percent Hispanic Communist, 31 percent white socialist,
11 percent Asian moderate and 10 percent black conservative"?

I was not stating that whites are socialists or that Asians or moderates, etc.
