And where did I explicitly claim that?

You assert that the election was rigged. See your 1221.

I am a reenactor as a hobby, and on the traditional battles where the South won, they win again. Like 1st & 2nd Mannassas, Chancellorsville, Fredricksburg, etc.

And I have been on the losing side during Gettysburg, Franklin, Petersburg, etc.

You assert that the election was rigged.

Elections can be rigged without being illegal. People can be discouraged from running against someone, all it takes is the right word from the right person or newspaper to make people think that they didn't have a chance. Southern press were talking up Davis to the heavens prior to the election, claiming a need for unity in the face of the evil Yankee horde, and implying that running against Davis would be unpatriotic. Doesn't take much more than that to make sure you have no opponent.

Friend:

These were examples of brutality, but they were exceptions, not the rule. If you were to read MY ancestor's diary from Georgia, you would read of his mother sitting up all hours of the night to doctor a slave with scarlet fever, or how his slaves refused to leave, even after he freed them in 1860. Or how his bodyservant took a bullet for him at Devil's Den at Gettysburg.

The Churches preached that it was wrong to mistreat slaves, that masters had an obligation to treat them well. Unfortunately, like people today, there were some who were just evil.

Here is where we disagree.
Drugs, unless used for medical purposes, are wrong.
Especially when used for self-gratification.
Your body is supposed to be the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
You don't defile it by putting harmful drugs into it.

So let's summarize these OTHER grievances:

1. The Federal Government allowed Kansas Jayhawkers to attack Southern citizens

And what was the conflict in Kansas all about? It was abolitionists vs. slave-holding interests. So, slavery again.

2. Did not protect the citizens of Texas from Mexicans & savage Indians, and refused to re-emburse the state government for the cost of doing what the US Government was supposed to be doing.

You quote the first mention of this particular grievance, but not the second, in which the Texans say, "They have refused to vote appropriations for protecting Texas against ruthless savages, for the sole reason that she is a slave-holding State." So, once again, slavery is identified as the factor leading to this problem.

Refused to enforce the fugitive slave laws.

Slavery again.

4. Allowed Abolitionist to stir up insurrections in the state.....

And slavery again. In fact, there isn't one issue that Texas brings up in the document that isn't either explicitly about slavery or can't be traced back to it.

YES, President Davis was equally responsible for the number of dixie forces war crimes. the president of ANY nation IS responsible under The Law of War for ALL ATROCITIES committed by forces under his command.

MOST scholars admit that the TOTAL number of UNlawful/intentional homicides by southern forces may have been as many as ONE HUNDRED PERSONS. contrast that rather small figure with the 50-100,000 CSA POWs, who were murdered in coldblood by the damnyankees at their CONCENTRATION CAMPS.

fyi, the US POW Center at Andersonville, GA says that they can find NO EVIDENCE whatever that even one US POW was intentionally killed by ANY person enlisted by, or contracted to, the PACSA while a POW at Camp Sumpter. NONE! (there were MANY POWs on BOTH sides who succumbed to disease and/or died of battle wounds.)

You still miss the point. SLAVERY WAS LEGAL. So therefore, the Southern States had a valid grievance. You can argue the moral end of it, but the Feds did not enforce the fugitive slave act, the Northern States provoked the South, the Abolitionist tried to instigate murder & revolt, and tried to take away the South's economic well-being.

All of this was WRONG.

in other words, the CSA election was NOT rigged and you aren't big enough to admit your error of both facts & judgment.

rather, you just engage in more spin, evasions, deception & HOKEM.

You're right, sw. Somewhere no doubt you have documented proof that Davis won his election by a margin of 50 million votes.

did i say THAT??

your comment is simply designed to deny/evade the TRUTH, which is that the election was NOT "rigged" in ANY WAY & that the election was BOTH, free & fair.

nobody CHOSE to run against Davis. in 1860, NOBODY in dixie was more personally popular than Jeff Davis.

"Lincoln & his coven of thugs cared NOTHING for "preserving the union" or about the plight of the slaves."

It speaks again...

You are really pitiful making these wild, demented comments, (again) while supporting the worst kind of evil and depravity imaginable in the slave system that your pals Stephens & and that lunatic Griffin declared their absolute support. You would have fit in so well with those types.

Right....nobody in the North wanted to preserve the Union, nor free the slaves from people like you...go back to sleep in your 'dixie republic'.

"I am starting to conclude that the Confederacy was inclined toward a national socialist dictatorship."

The more I hear and research the striking comparisons with other ruthless totalitarian dictatorships based on slave labour is horrifying. Fresh for total military victories in the field and drunk with absolute power the proto-fascist after sizing control of Washington D.C., would have gone a little further northward and take Baltimore and possible Philly and onward to the Northeast. Imagine if the outcome of the Civil War had been reversed?

The unimaginable deleterious effects of the rest of the nation would have been beyond catastrophic and the slaughter unrelenting, until every anti-slavery, out spoken American, including clergy were thrown in massive graves, state by state. Black Americans in all Northern states would have immediately enslaved or butchered if they had escaped the terrorism of the South, as a 'precaution' to the new order.

Since lynching and burning victims on piles of wood, as scores of grisly post Civil War photographs have proven, there is no other descriptive wholesale horror of what would have been then the atrocities of 'The Eastern Front' taking place in targeted Northern cities and eventually even in rural areas. The loss to American society is unimaginable!

A conspiratorial sadistic attempt was indeed staged in 1865 for a The Night of the Long Knives. The complete decapitation of the United States government leaders. The president was murdered but the rest of the diabolical plot failed and those known to be involved were captured and tried.
