Yes, I know that the Schindlers encouraged him to date. But why didn't he grant a divorce, at any time? It seems that the only benefit he gets from not divorcing her is the power to seal her fate. That lends credibility to the abuse accusations.

I had the same question - why hasn't he just divorced her? I learhed this morning that under Florida law, you cannot divorce a spouse who can't provide verbal assurance that they are aware you are divorcing them.

I don't know Michael's motives. I don't think you really do either, you are just making assumptions.
The fact remains that he has the legal right and responsibility to make these decisions for her.
It is something that happens every single day, hundreds of times. Every day these decisions have to be made all across the country.
The law says that the spouse is the next of kin. Period.
