Context aside and based solely on that question and comment, I would say that legal instruments exist to take that person's property but I don't agree with it. But I'm not sure of your point so I'll let you lead.

I've never supported churches climbing in to bed with the state. 501(c)3's have lost any moral authority when they subjugated their message to the state's. Ironically, the pro-life message of church's placing little crosses was challenged based on that particular union. So sure, pull tax exempt status and let the churches keep all of their donations.
