Many posters I had once respected have aligned themselves to that wackiness.

Well, we're past the point of reasonable and rational discussion. They don't want to hear it. I've seen a few posts referring to us in the Smokey Backroom, and they're not pretty. I'm sympathetic to a lot of their arguements, too (in theory), but they've wandered deep into Michael Moore-esqe moral/paranoid rage. Threads like that represent conservative thought very poorly, but the few of us that think so are barricaded in down here. Whatta revoltin development this has turned out ta be!

I am about to lose my mind. I keep seeing these doctors and news people on TV making all these judgments when they either haven't read, or grasped, the actual medical history.

I just watched Dr Jacob Green on Fox go on and on about how he disapproves of all of this because all it would take is a simple EEG to see if there is anything going on in there and how frustrated he is that it has never been done.

Dr Seigel said he kinda thought one had been done, Green said "No it was not!" And blathered on more about how they should just do that simple EEG and they'd know.

Ugh.

An EEG (not the only one - there were others in earlier years that showed the same lack of activity) was done as recently as July of 2002 just for the 2002 trial, and it, along with a SPECT and CT scan was typical of a patient in a PVS.

The report said there was no electrical activity in the cerebral origin. Bambakadis (whom I trust the most) said he didn't like that phrase, because he saw activity, albeit activity typical of those in PVS. There was no response to pain or the opening of her eyes.

This particular EEG had artifacts on it - wasn't as clear as it could have been. But the ones in previous years also reported no activity - the one in '93 was flat in the cerebral areas (remember there is going to be some activity coming from the brain stem - hers is intact, tho it has shrunk somewhat, along with her thalamus.)
