More Seek Help For Marijuana Addiction

WASHINGTON - The admission rate for those who seek treatment for marijuana use nearly tripled between 1992 and 2002, according to the latest data compiled by the federal government.

The numbers released Friday reflect a growing use of marijuana in the 1990s and an increase in the potency of marijuana, said Tom Riley, a spokesman for the White House's Office of National Drug Control Policy.

"This report makes clear what people in the public health community have known for years, which is marijuana is a much more dangerous drug than many Americans realize," Riley said. "This report is a wake up call for parents that marijuana is not a soft drug. It's a much bigger part of the addiction problem than is generally understood."

The study on treatment rates was conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, which estimated that 41 states experienced an increase in the number of people who sought treatment for marijuana use during the decade studied.

If they resist officers, hurt officers or continue to hurt civilians with their products, if the dealers died in the process, I would not feel a loss for this country at all.

Well of course not. If they died, it would be "good". Just as nothing good can ever come of something bad, nothing bad can ever come of something good, right?

What makes a drug evil?

Would the terrorists profit if the drugs were legal?

That's what the Dems said when they dubbed me with that name...says alot about you. Anyone that thinks that the only purpose for a man's penis is raping women is the one that is nuts. This conversation is over.

It says that Ceasar has the right to enforce and expect compliance of their law

Wrong; "render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's" does not say anything that Caesar claims is Caesar's.

In one of the parables

One parable, out of how many? Sorry, Scripture does not support the proposition that sinners should be imprisoned.

That was not my point and you know it. My point was that having a penis does not mean you can go around raping women.

Having "cannaboid receptors" does not mean you should smoke pot.

Do I have to draw you a map?

You asked for an example, you got it...or are you just raising the bar in a vain attempt to support your position?

You asked for an example

No, I didn't ... and my statement above remains true.

endangering our children with introduction of this cr@p in their lives. [...] Self responsibility is also about using common sense to never start getting into things that put you in a bad place to begin with.

Your arguments also apply to the legal drugs alcohol and tobacco, but you don't want to ban those; why is that?

Regarding legal prescribed drugs, for the most part they serve their purpose unless the user practices criminality by illegally going to several doctors for duplication of medication illegally.

Of course, that makes it illegal again.

Alcohol and tobacco to my knowledge are not considered legal drugs.
There are enough bad things regarding smoking that should make people think twice about getting hooked on that.
In addition, if you CHOOSE to smoke, the results in the future of that might be you get no insurance or may have to pay three times as much as someone else because of the cancers it causes.
Alcohol is good for you with light to mild use. Is a slight blood thinner, and purifies food going back to the Bible, but once you drink high levels in illegal ways...then it becomes also criminal.

There is no shocker here.
COMMON SENSE.

What's your opinion of people abusing prescription drugs by taking them in combination with alcohol when the directions specifically warn against it?

Not that I mentioned legal prescribed drugs, but wouldn't the same be true for marijuana if it was legally prescribable?

Alcohol and tobacco to my knowledge are not considered legal drugs.

LOL! They are certainly legal, although regulated. (Just like cars are legal, although they have to pass an emissions test and can't be driven on the sidewalk.) There's no good reason not to treat marijuana the same way.

Still waiting to hear what you think needs to be done with these self-destrucive, liberal, irresponsible and dangerous people.

Nowhere does the bible say that sinners should be imprisoned;

Wrong. In one of the parables, the man who had his debt forgiven, but then refused to forgive the debt of a man who owed him money, was thrown into prison...

Parables are not to be taken literally ... unless you think that the parable of the barren fruit tree means that sinners should be hewed with axes. In the parable, imprisonment is a metaphor for God's puinishment in the next world, not a policy prescription for this world.
