The shot heard around the Internet has been fired on FreeRepublic.com The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style purge against members that disagree with the Presidents guest worker amnesty or support more control of illegal immigration. Free Republic is an amazing tool for those looking for a good debate and news from around the country.
The problem for the administration of the site is that their creation is allowing the participants to learn that the Bush immigration record and plans are shockingly out of line with the views of most conservatives. The managements answer to this conflict between the majority of conservatives and the influence of the White House on their Web site has become electronic executions and censorship.
Members and readers of Free Republic would be surprised to know that many members of their community have fallen silent on the discussions about illegal immigration lately because free speech is an illusion on FR.com. They are silent because they have been banned from the Web site without warning, cause, or explanation in most cases. For weeks the moderators have been suspending and banning new members that chimed in quickly on the immigration debates.
Now this trend has broadened as the first groups of long-term users were suspended or banned this past week. Although Robinson and his staff removed many members of the Free Republic community in the first few days of the purge, those that religiously support President Bushs immigration plan, open borders and approve of public benefits for illegal aliens remain on the forum. Those that were banned were the members that wanted more done to control illegal immigration and a strict observance to the Presidents Oath of Office.
A dilution of the world's greatest actor's character, who holds influence over events that may be key for mankind's survival beyond that which we know today, is unthinkable. And yet, we have both the MSM's hatred for America, Euro-hatred of America (jealousy) and borders open such that, a people that once stood against the old world and her stinking serfdom ways, may fall under the weight of collective criticism, under an anvil of 'correctness'.
I'll not stand for an open border dilution that could ultimately corrupt our message to the rest of the world. If this message cannot be united into a message of one, freedom and liberty will be picked apart by the hyenas and vultures circling the pride. Your pride, my pride.
cogent dog.
The English system of common law, which is our foundation, is a thousand years in development.
Some of the greatest minds on the planet contributed to it's meaning and refinement.
Sadly, it seems that it was almost destroyed in the 20th century, but parts live on.
That is the single greatest tradition and value that made America great.
Let's agree that it starts with effective border enforcement. Without that, law enforcement is spotty at best. 20-30 million illegals would require a round-up of major proportions. And, would put us in anything but the best light.
America is a land of laws and you're right. Those who violate our immigration laws should be held accountable. Try as I might, I couldn't come up with an equitable way of assimilating illegals already here, while holding their cousins at bay. Citizenship is all or nothing at all. Given that a non-porous border is attainable, perhaps the best we can hope for might be a 'don't ask, don't tell' policy towards illegals here already to reduce the economic disclocations that might occur.
And that's a best case scenerio.
That is a crucial question. Over-the-beach entries are very few--but the Coast Guard cannot handle that relatively small trickle right now.
If they can't handle the very small amount of over-the-beach illegal immigration today, what makes you think they'd be able to handle a vastly greater number tomorrow?
but that I have a pretty good "ear to the ground" on the topic of beach entry. I suspect that you don't.
You don't have a good ear to the ground on this issue. I do.
Further, if we didn't have people chaing foot traffic all over 150,000 sq. miles of desert we could utilize those BP people elsewhere.
Like trying to chase illegals across ten times as much land.
This isn't a problem that is amenable to a force-only solution.
You lost the argument back in 1965.
Having said that, that will all end when they get complacent,...comfortable. The minute you make them legal, they're just like any construction worker, except.....no English. Plus the addition of....paperwork, insurance, etc. Attractive? Ummmmm.
They work like they do out of desperation. It's not something to revel in. It's a sad commentary on their situation and that of their family's. Answer? Make everyone legal? That's not good post 9-11 policy. Or pre for that matter. I understand what the President is trying to do. It's a bad situation he didn't create but had we stopped this long ago they may have been inclined to straight line their system down south and everyone would be sittin pretty. I may even be taking my family to Cabo. American money would be coming to them instead of them coming to America for money. As it sits now, I'll vacation here, and hire Americans so I can understand what the hell their saying. Picito Espagnol Amigo.
Did you check out the new poll? Looks like some of my concerns about wording....and your questions about participation are going to be answered.
Yep, I saw it but haven't voted yet. I still don't like the wording, so I may take that option. *LOL*
I've been following the conversation, and I didn't see where he was advocating a force-"only" solution.
I did, however, see where you accused him of making a strawman argument against your position. So apparently only you're allowed to do that.
Get a new eye doctor.
This will be my last reply on this but I want to get this off my chest.
Who exactly is being the "nazi" here Travis. I gave my opinion and you all in what I consider(again my opinion) a mob mentality wanted no less than my head for daring to give my opinion.
I don't blame Jim for his actions since you and your posse were making me the onus of this thread, instead of the stormfronters who have inflitrated and are a big part of initiating the so-called minuteman movement. In actuality I pity you and your posse for trying to quash people's opinions of which you probably agree with 75% of the time on other political issues.
And one last comment, before I leave this thread.
The majority of those who were glad to see sent into exile for a few days commented that I must be a woman, but it was those same people whose cackling gossip would put the classic TV character gossip of Mrs. Kravitz to shame.
IMO you've got LOUSY opinions.
I thought we cleaned this place up??!!!
Maybe Hannity was right...
Well, considering that your post hasn't been banned, I would tend to disagree with that.
In my opinion you suck ass.
Hows Bout Some Cheese With That WHIIIINE? BTTT
Adios.
Don't worry, they'll axe me sooner or later as well.
