The shot heard around the Internet has been fired on FreeRepublic.com The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style purge against members that disagree with the Presidents guest worker amnesty or support more control of illegal immigration. Free Republic is an amazing tool for those looking for a good debate and news from around the country.
The problem for the administration of the site is that their creation is allowing the participants to learn that the Bush immigration record and plans are shockingly out of line with the views of most conservatives. The managements answer to this conflict between the majority of conservatives and the influence of the White House on their Web site has become electronic executions and censorship.
Members and readers of Free Republic would be surprised to know that many members of their community have fallen silent on the discussions about illegal immigration lately because free speech is an illusion on FR.com. They are silent because they have been banned from the Web site without warning, cause, or explanation in most cases. For weeks the moderators have been suspending and banning new members that chimed in quickly on the immigration debates.
Now this trend has broadened as the first groups of long-term users were suspended or banned this past week. Although Robinson and his staff removed many members of the Free Republic community in the first few days of the purge, those that religiously support President Bushs immigration plan, open borders and approve of public benefits for illegal aliens remain on the forum. Those that were banned were the members that wanted more done to control illegal immigration and a strict observance to the Presidents Oath of Office.
Hi!
He does not need qualifications. He's part of the always right crowd.
An illegal granted legal staus.
Thank you for your reply. I wasn't going to reply to your previous post because I didn't want to antagonize you. That is a consise statement of your position on the issue, and I didn't read anything in there that I can disagree with. Again, thanks.
EVERYONE STOLE LAND FROM THE INDIANS FITZ!
"And what might be more amazing to you yet "
ASSuming, ASSuming, ASSuming, ASSuming.
If ANY Country, Mexico included, tries to annex ANY part of the U.S., I'll fight them.
You assume that all the Spanish surnamed of the SW have a Mexican identity --- and I can tell you with certainty that is false. It's only the recent arrivals that do --- there are familes of the SW never did immigrate from Mexico. Mexico did not rule over the former Spanish territories for very long at all --- and it lost them because it ruled over them about as poorly as it rules over it's established states. There are also other reasons ---- the Indians of the SW were a big barrier to Spanish and/or Mexican settlement. Again --- do an experiment --- put up a statue of Davy Crockett for example --- and then try to put up one of Don Juan de Onate.
Perhaps now you understand why I get angry.
Not only is it concise, but I've been consistently arguing the same point for nearly five years, yet on this thread, someone questions whether I support Arizona's proposition 200 when in fact, much of what I consider to be a solution for the problem of illegal immigration is part of Prop. 200, and I wrote that editorial at least a year before the Prop. 200 movement got under way!
Yet you don't see what Vicente Fox was laying out in his "The Whole Enchilada". Co-rule by Mexico over the USA, dual citizenship --- with Mexicans still ruled over by their own government but living in the USA.
Cut off the welfare --- they're still going to move in to do the begging that Americans don't want to do --- we still end up looking like the slums of Mexico City. The country of Mexico has very huge social problems ---- of it's own making. It's not up to us to be their happy dumping ground. They must change.
But that's exactly what Mexico is doing - one illegal at a time. The government of Mexico is actively pushing their front line invaders into our country. Mexico is doing everything they can to change or effect our laws so that we can't do anything about it or even limite what the invaders can do once they're here. They even have representatives to the Mexican form of Congress which are elected by and represent the invaders already here. No, there was no official declaration of war or intent to invade and there are few shots fired, but the net effect is that Mexico is trying to annex the SW portion of the U.S. and expand its influence on the rest of it. Will the border be officially redrawn? No. But when the majority of citizens in the SW are loyal to Mexico and not the U.S., then the official lines would be trivial.
Save A FROBL, Donate (anonymously) To FR BTTT
LOL
The whole discussion is funnier than a barrel full of democrats...unreal.
I don't see the objection to "FROBL" ---- I didn't know what it stood for until a few posts back --- but if they refer to the "FRCBL" for FR closed border lobby --- I wouldn't run from that term.
;)
See you in April...
The fact that the enemy within has legs to stand on is pathetic...
FROBLs are okay; it's those SNEFRBLFINs you have to wary of.
The Mexican government is trying to stop Proposition 200 ---- which the American voters of Arizona chose. That to me is about as absurd as anything we've seen --- but no one dares stand up to them.
