Please, please please spare me your condenscending moral revulsion at young Americans acting like young Americans! Compare them and their actions to what your parents and grandparents did to blow off steam in Vietnam, Korea, and WWII, if you dare.
Seriously, get a grip. We're not talking about drugs or prostitution. The only problem here is that such unrealistical high expectations are placed on our young soldiers, that anything less than sitting in church (or perhaps a non-denominational interfaith study group) will be seen as inappropriate.
So sit behind your comfy keyboards and moralize to your hearts content. If this is the worst the media can dredge up, then our current batch of soldiers today are the most well behaved in history.
All it takes is one woman to cry foul, and it's no longer fun and games.
Do stupid stuff and it will eventually catch up with you.
Bravo!
WWII: Everywhere the U.S. Army went local women would appear with the "hey Joe, show you good time for Cigarretes" routine." My grandfather told me that even in England, many locals complained about U.S. soldiers "corrupting" the local women. He also told me that the many of the WACS simply joined to get men, and they got MANY men.
