There's a difference between critical thought and reason.

Have you ever read the history of the Middle Eastern cult commonly known as the assassins? There is strong evidence to suggest that ingestion of the concentrated resin from indica strains impaired their ability to reason.

Alcohol clouds reason, cannabis does not.

I'm not interested in an argument debating the merits / demerits of alcohol vs. weed.

I believe that both substances should be legal for adults to use medicinally or for recreation.

If I ever find myself in a location where I can do so legally, I will partake of some fine, pure sativa strains and enjoy the enhancement they provide.

I'm not going to waste my time with you like I did with the University of Alaska study.

Oh yes, that famous study that no one can find. We don't know who funded the study, the sample size, methodology etc.

You just ASSume it's comparing apples to apples. My gosh, why doesn't someone make such an important landmark study available?

"Medical uses for Marijuana = a few"

Says who? A friend of your cousin's neighbor? No major medical organization, none, supports smoked marijuana for medical use.

NyQuil® contains 10% alcohol.

"marijuana: no"

Marijuana is addictive. It may not be as addictive as alcohol, but it is addictive.

Where are you getting your stats -- marijuanaiscool.com?

Alcohol is sedative, anodyne, cardio-suppressant, a muscle relaxant, anti-pyretic and brings blood to a specific area which will draw a localized infection to the surface and cause it to drain.

It is prescribed by doctors who are not friends of my cousins neighbors. Patients and doctors say it has beneficial medical use. You can't deny it.

NyQuil® contains 10% alcohol.

To help you relax perhaps. Nothing wrong with that. If pot helps you relax or keeps a cancer patient from barfing his guts out, there's nothing wrong with that either.

"marijuana: no"

No, it isn't. If you stop using it your body doesn't crave it. No delirium tremors, stuff like that ya know.

Where are you getting your stats -- marijuanaiscool.com?

No, I just get stoned and make them up.

If you think it's unreasonable to psyche yourself up for battle. I think their moral mindset was culturally instilled not chemically induced.

Marijuana is addictive. It may not be as addictive as alcohol, but it is addictive.

Prove it.

Where are you getting your stats -- marijuanaiscool.com?

I thought you couldn't be bothered to provide stats? Oh, everyone else has to, but not you? LOL

Many major medical organizations, many, support smoked marijuana for medical use.

I can't be bothered to provide the data, but you are welcome to post yours that prove it isn't so.

ROFL!
You suggested Washington grew sativa in post #322. Did you forget what you wrote?

Then support your comments with a reference.

Washington, George & Jefferson, Thomas, Diaries of; also Jefferson's Farm Books, Aug. 7, 1765.þ

Give me a reason to believe what you wrote.

I don't care what you believe. Your beliefs and arguments are based on dogma and no fact will change that. I post historical evidence for those who are interested in adding to their knowledge. I've already referenced one line from Washington's diary on this thread. That is not the only entry that shows he was using techniques to increase drug potency.

Refute that diary entry, if you can. I'm not interested in a copy and paste war.

At the Holiday Inn in Aruba, the bellhop will bring some to your room for a small fee.

"It is prescribed by doctors who are not friends of my cousins neighbors."

Doctors are not "prescribing" marijuana. They're not allowed to.

Doctors are allowed to recommend marijuana, but end up simply validating its use, since 99% of their "patients" are already smoking marijuana prior to their first office visit (according to a California survey).

"Patients and doctors say it has beneficial medical use"

Sorry, I don't go by anecdotal stories. A stoner telling his doctor that marijuana is really really helping the pain in his little finger is as far away from a scientific study as you can get.

"If you stop using it your body doesn't crave it"

I didn't say it was physically addictive. I said it was addictive. Psychologically.

Sure I'll do Your work for you

Prevalence

Percent of adults who drank alcohol in the past year: 62.7

Percent of current drinkers who had five or more drinks on at least one day in the past year: 32.2

Source: Health, United States, 2004, table 66 http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/alcohol.htm

So Last year more than 50% of alcohol users drank very heavily. Even those who had 3 or 4 drinks were drunk enough to not be able to drive legally.

But 90% of alcohol goes to toasting a farewell, cool of on a hot day, or enhance the flavor of meat. Only a tiny few do it for the buzz. Sure.

Even a source like "A Stoner's View of American History" would be of interest.

ROFL!
I find it interesting that you won't attempt to refute the diary entries I've posted, but you're interested in a "Stoners" reference. You obviously are drooling for the chance to start a copy and paste war.

You can find references to Jefferson the pot smuggler in the Omega Data Base, it includes notes that will take you to the historical records.

You can find the Omega Data Base here:

Excellent. That's all true, but really, physicians don't use it much for most those purposes do they? Dr. X prescribes a bottle of Jack to relax your muscles? Not!

I have heard many times though that a glass of wine a day is good for the heart. I'm not sure if it's the alcohol or the grapes, but I'll drink to that anyway.

You sound like you have a bit of a medical background. My wife is an RN (she has worked in the insurance company for the last 14 years, but had nearly that much clinical experience when she changed careers).

"Last year more than 50% of alcohol users drank very heavily"

On one day. Maybe it was their birthday.

"Even those who had 3 or 4 drinks were drunk enough to not be able to drive legally."

Legally? Oh, you mean that arbitrary BAC standard, set by throwing a dart in a dartboard, that changes every year? That "legally"?

You sure don't want to drink methanol, but it does make a fine fuel. Back in the day I used to buy it by the 55 gallon drum to run in my 66 vette. Swap out the carb and fill up the tank and you gain somewhere between 10% to 15%
more horsepower. On top of the 450 or so the old vette was already making, it made a pretty noticeable difference.

Just don't plan on a long trip. It takes twice as much methanol to run your car as it does gasoline. Not very effecient, but it is easy on a motor.

Personal experience?

Nitromethanol is even better. It takes four times as much, but produces twice as much horsepower in the process. Rejetting highly recommended.
