Alvarez's estranged wife said he threatened her and her family and threatened to abduct their 3-year-old son, although he never physically assaulted her, according to a request for a temporary restraining order that was granted Dec. 14, The Associated Press reported.
"He threatened to take our kid away and to hurt my family members," Carmelita Alvarez said. "He is planning on selling his vehicle to buy a gun and threatened to use it. He is using drugs and has been in and out of rehab twice."
[SNIP]
Alvarez, a U.S. citizen, watched as the train barreled into his SUV shortly after 6 a.m.
"He was found right at the scene," [Glendale Police Chief Randy] Adams said. "The suspect has admitted placing his vehicle on the tracks."
[SNIP]
U.S. Attorney's Office spokesman Thom Mrozek said there is potential federal jurisdiction with a possible death penalty in the case.

So can everybody who immediately assumed he was an illegal alien shut up now? If this information would get Michael Savage to STFU, that'd be a good start. He went off half-cocked and misinformed (as usual) yesterday about how the perp was an illegal.

I'm sure you understand the frustration given the level of support for restrictions on the border and the absence of movement on that front.

How come nobody's made the observation that the journalist felt compelled to note his citizenship? I can't speak for the journalist. However, the answer to why the perp's citizenship status is newsworthy is obvious.

Why I'm sure LULAC will champion his cause, probably sell 'T'-shirts with his picture on 'em.

How come nobody's made the observation that the journalist felt compelled to note his citizenship? An attempt to head off negative comments at the pass? Why? Seems a little "Thou protesteth too much" to me. Comments? The perp's citizenship was noted to make the peasants with pitchforks look like idiots.
That's my opinion.

There were only about a billion FR posts essentially stating that since it wasn't stated in the press whether he was illegal or not that he must be an illegal and they're covering it up.
Boy, this is a frustrating one for FR. Not a Muslim terrorist, not an illegal. Guess people could hold out hope he's gay.

I suspect this thread will be very short. LOL! Don't bet on it.

The perp's citizenship was noted to make the peasants with pitchforks look like idiots. Oh I think the pitchfork crowd did just fine on their own.

Sheesh what a dumb comment.

That means he'll end up here in Terre Haute.Maybe. The L.A. County District Attorney made some very tough statements today. I think he'll go for the maximum penalty. However, this being California, the perp is likely to outlive us all.

Do it, there were only a couple and they were asked to prove it.
They guy should have been in jail a long time ago. This is another law enforcement failure who will have all the special "interest" groups rally to his "defense".

I guess Congressman Jindal, AG designee Gonzales, Dr. Rice, Jeb Bush's wife and children, and assorted other Americans are now invited to leave the country.
