"Well --- YOU'RE the one who believes that the recent and more criminal subclass from Mexico somehow reflect back on ALL hispanics."

Are you crazy??? No I'm not joking. That's a serious question. Where the hell did you gather that assesment?

I love that bit of "logic" about an arbitrary generations indicator to determine how American you are.

Hillary Clinton's and John Kerry's lineage can be traced back to the Mayflower. Now there's some true patriots for you...

Thank God you were being facetious. I was really starting to lose it.

I see. Americans who can trace their lineage back several generations do not become despondent and murder, and only recent immigrants commit crime. Got it.

This thread has taken a weird turn.

Because obviously the issue was never on whether or not this guy was likely a hispanic --- that was established from the start --- but certain people insist that he cannot possibly be from the recent immigrant group of hispanics --- and that to think he is is extremely racist because he just has to be from a long-time American-hispanic group.

Which to me is absurd because the latter is generally not a violent crime group and to have to assume he's from one of them --- or all hispanics have equal crime rates is to me a worse kind of racism. If the old immigrant group and the non-immigrant group has a low rate of violent crime --- why must we assume he's one of them or has an equal chance of being of them versus assuming he's of the recent arrival group?

I'm becoming a little depressed from reading this thread. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a naturalized citizen and haven't formed the lineage yet to be constantly happy. Or if it's because this thread makes me feel bad for humanity.

What would you call this crowd if being concerned about violent and escalating Mexican crime is somehow racist?

Probably both. I think it's the height of snootiness to look down on people who can't produce generations worth of pedigree.

Fortunately, that train of thought is the minority on this board. Loud, but a minority.

I think I'll call it a night before my heart monitor spikes again. Good night!

Mexicans protest at soaring crime

At least 250,000 Mexicans marched through the capital and other cities on Sunday in protest at the Government's failure to control lawlessness in one of the world's most crime-ridden countries.

In the biggest demonstration in Mexico in more than 10 years, protesters dressed in white filled Mexico City's Zocalo Square, which holds more than 100,000 people, and packed surrounding avenues.

Many carried banners urging the death penalty for kidnappers, rapists and murderers.

Even crime-hardened Mexicans have been shocked by a recent wave of kidnappings. In one case, two brothers were abducted, killed and dumped in a garbage bin even though their parents paid a $US600,000 ($A860,000) ransom.

The bells of the city's cathedral greeted marchers who sang the national anthem in the square. In Tijuana, near the US border, 15,000 marched and smaller protests took place in other Mexican cities.

Mexico United Against Crime, one of the march organisers, said between 350,000 and 2 million people took part in the protests.

From 1992 to 2002, Mexicans reported at least 15,000 kidnappings, according to the Inter-American Development Bank. March organisers said most violent crime goes unreported, partly because of police corruption and a sense that nothing will be done. "We are afraid. We can't go out on to the street and the police do absolutely nothing to protect us," said Yolanda Tellez, 62.

The protest attracted many middle and upper-class citizens who normally stay in their walled homes. Wearing white clothes and carrying signs that read "Enough!" business leaders, professors, lawyers and others turned out to pressure officials to increase efforts to curb crime.

(or would we have to say these are bigots for having the same concern for their society as some of us have for ours)

What I objected to on this thread was the automatic assumption by a certain group of people that he MUST be illegal if he committed a violent crime. Period. Anything else you may think I said is a product of your vivid imagination.

I wasn't sure if he was illegal or an anchor baby. My assumption --- based on crime statistics is that he's in the recent immigrant group --- with close ties to Mexico. No different than when I assume a black violent criminal is more likely from the inner city rather than a black middle class suburb --- which also isn't 100%

I think this guy could be from one of the old Spanish families of the SW USA --- but just not all that likely.

They also should be denied all public assistance. Let them fend for themselves or go to private help orgs.

From their background (as presented today)...living in a garage with their inlaws, and entire nuclear family in one clown house makes me think he's just another of the ones that squeezed under the border wire. Probably a beneficiary of Clintoons amnesty.

So, yet another Citizen that doesn't believe in our way of life...why's he here?

Welfare. Unemployment. WIC. Social Security for his babies.

Yet another LEECH. His ex-wife even said he didn't work much. Probably just enough to get the next 4 month period of Unemployment paid for.

I hate to say it --- because the open borders crowd won't like it --- but most of the hispanics who have lived here always or since the early part of the 1900s also don't live that ---- but I guess we're supposed to assume that makes him more likely one of that old or non-immigrant group so we won't be bigots.

Your argument is a pathetic one based on semantics. It must be sad to have to nit pik in order to try to feign superiority...

No I don't. My past posts speak for themselves. Anyone can read back. It's memorialized here.

I suggests you keep both hands on the wheel, to avoid the spin.
