Alvarez's estranged wife said he threatened her and her family and threatened to abduct their 3-year-old son, although he never physically assaulted her, according to a request for a temporary restraining order that was granted Dec. 14, The Associated Press reported.
"He threatened to take our kid away and to hurt my family members," Carmelita Alvarez said. "He is planning on selling his vehicle to buy a gun and threatened to use it. He is using drugs and has been in and out of rehab twice."

Alvarez, a U.S. citizen, watched as the train barreled into his SUV shortly after 6 a.m.
"He was found right at the scene," [Glendale Police Chief Randy] Adams said. "The suspect has admitted placing his vehicle on the tracks."

I would make the same guess. Plus let's verify he's a US citizen. He may only have a green card. Who knows for sure at this point.

The racists on this thread just cannot accept that this buy might not be from one of those old American hispanic families of the SW ---- who are better citizens than many. But according to them --- it's fine to believe a criminal is of that group --- that isn't racism --- for some really odd reason --- but that's certainly stretching the definition of racism even more than it already is.
I never ruled out him being an anchor baby --- citizenship lately is very cheap. I still bet against him being from one of those old families which have lived in the USA for many generations --- which lived here before the SW joined the USA or the immigrants who came during the revolution. And as immersed as he was into Mexican witchcraft --- I'm not changing my mind on him being of the Mexicans moving into the USA that Vicente Fox is so boastful of. And American citizen no longer rules out someone being a Mexican citizen.

Correct. He has not been long in America and he killed 12 Americans. Someone who just off the banana boat is not an American in the same sense that someone who has been here for generations is.

I think it's actually racist --- if racism is involved here --- maybe some other kind of bigotry --- to automatically assume this guy is from the old hispanic families of the SW USA --- why would you jump to that conclusion when that group of people does not have a high crime rate at all?
It's really ridiculous actually that you and others even bring up "racism" in this --- as if "hispanic" is a race in the first place and as if his being hispanic is somehow in question.
And if we're a nation of "immigrants" as some like to say --- why is assuming he's of an older immigrant group somehow so superior to guessing he's from a recent immigrant group? Or is it okay to have that kind of bigotry that says recent immigrants are all better than earlier immigrants?
Mexican satanic rituals aren't really a common theme you see among those long-time American hispanics. I still guess this guy doesn't come from one of the old Santa Fe NM families, or one of the old California Spanish descended families. But then I also don't believe "hispanic" or even "Mexican" is a race. But yes --- I do believe the country of Mexico is in a fast decline and they've been pushing their many problems over to us as their only solution for 2 or 3 decades now.

I agree crimes are always magnified when committed by an immigrant. Take for example, this damn Norwegian MFer stole my spoon the other day. There we were in the buffet line and I was eyeballing this shiny piece of silverware when this damn non-english speaking foreigner comes and snags it from me!
I mean the gall! These people should know there place! Coming to a restaurant in my neighborhood and cutting in line to snag the last spoon. I had to wait two minutes before the wait staff brought out a new batch...

Well --- YOU'RE the one who believes that the recent and more criminal subclass from Mexico somehow reflect back on ALL hispanics. We're now to believe that all have equally high likelihood of committing violent crimes. That's like stereotyping all blacks because a certain subclass of them commit more crimes. Just keep in mind though -- a city like El Paso (mostly hispanic) is relatively safe -- in fact one of the safest USA large cities --- yet right across the border is an extremely violent city. That would lead me to believe "race", "ethnicity", or whatever isn't the factor. Mexico itself is a country headed for disaster at a very high speed.
