While I occassionally charge into the fray for the sake of others’ morale, Solomon has plenty of advice that backs you up. Here are just a few examples:
Proverbs 17:10: A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool. ... 12: Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
Proverbs 29:11: A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
Proverbs 29:9: If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest ... 20: Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
Proverbs 23:23: Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. [Jesus: “The Truth will set you free.”]
Proverbs 10:14: Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
