If you favor an approach to war like that, I suppose you would support American troops lining up a bunch of Iraqi civilians and saying we are going to shoot these people unless you Iraqi militants surrender.

If Lincoln had been a man of peace, he would have let the South go rather than plot and instigate war with the South. It was a voluntary Union after all, and I don't remember reading about a clause written in invisible ink on the back of the Constitution that states couldn't secede when they plainly retained the power to secede under the 10th Amendment. I am not in agreement with lining up innocent Iraqi civilians, but jihadic creeps, once captured, should be lined up and made to wear panties on their heads which would be an improvement over the used dishrags.
