I would be Mr. Non-Sequitur, the one, the only. Accept no substitutes. And the south was not within it's rights to rebel.

The War Between the States was not a rebellion. There was no rebellion -- except in West Virginia, which threw off the lawful authority of the State of Virginia and her government, and sought protection from a military tyrant.

And the south was not within it's rights to rebel.

A fair statement, as far as it goes. Had they rebelled, they almost certainly would not have been in the right. However, there was no rebellion.
