Free Republic is not, must not, and will not turn into Dummyland

If you want to destroy a political forum then turn it into a conspiracy theories haven. This is exactly what is Democratic Underground known to us as Dummyland. At DU the lefties are running all type of insanely delusional conspiracy theories ranging from election fraud, to Bush is going to kill or imprison every Democrat in the country.
On the other hand Free Republic is the best political forum on the internet because the vast majority of posters use logic and facts to express their opinions and comments regarding a particular subject. Unfortunately in the last two months there have been a flood of threads on Free Republic where the conspiracy theory crowd have been living it a large. These threads deal with the illegal immigration issue and many of the posters on these threads used every conspiracy theory under the sun. These insanely delusional conspiracy theories tell us how President Bush is going to Mexicanize America, how he is going to destroy the American economy, how he is going to annihilate our culture and on and on and on. President Bush has been savagely attacked by these posters and he was called all type of names. These threads are being now the Bush bashing forum on Free Republic.
Leading the brutal attack against President Bush are the Buchanin loyalists and 3rd party voters. Yes you can go ahead and show a poll on FR where the majority disagrees with President Bush guest worker program but the vast majority of those are not hatefully attacking President Bush. The hate campaign is lead by a fringe group on FR and this fringe must no tarnish the reputation of this great forum.
We can disagree with President Bush on his illegal immigration plan but we should do so in a constructive and logical way. We must not allow these threads of immigration issue to be hijacked by the fringe that will turn into a Bash Bush Party, spread insanely delusional conspiracy theories on Bush plan to destroy America, and spew a lot of racism directed toward Latinos. In the same way the fringe is going after any freeper who disagrees with their Bush bashing and crazy conspiracy theories and accuse him or her of being a supporter to illegal immigration, wanting to destroy the nation, helping the terrorists, and on and on and on.
We should always remember that the Republican Party is the ruling majority because we were able to get ride of the fringe in our party, the Buchanin loyalists and extremists who turned into 3rd party voters.
Free Republic is the greatest of all political forum on the internet, let us keep it this way and let us prevent it from being hijacked by a fringe of Bush basher and insanely delusional conspiracy theorists.

"It's very clear that there are devious and vigorous forces that want to continue the flow of illegal aliens into this country. The race is on and this administration is gearing up to push through yet another amnesty against the will of the people. Our "Here We Go 'Round the Amnesty Bush" President, needs a wake-up call and it may just have to come from Senator Hillary Clinton."

Help is on the way?! Many people will fall for her line, which of course she's not sincere about. She's smart enough to know that America is getting sick of this invasion which President Bush doesn't want to stop. She just might sail into the White House because of it.

How many "OTMs" crossing that border have been detected so far? Hundreds? In FY 2004, just under 66,000.

" The Republican Party has been shifting leftward for quite sometime now. Conservatism within the Republican Party IS dead. Neo-conservatism is the trend now."You have summed it up. Look at those paraded before the GOP convention as the future leaders plus the array of GOP Governors. In ascendancy are the trade our jobs negotiators, open our borders advocates, be the world's policeman, and spenders of our children's inheritance. Some people forget that Buchanan came out for Bush because he was pro-life. Bush may be the last of a vanishing breed of those Republicans.

The open border lobby can stop calling anyone who dislikes the presidents immigration stance names. Unless they consider the following "Bush bashers" and part of the Buchanan clan --- Rush Limbaugh, Michael Reagan,Wm F. Buckley, Toney Blankley,GOPUSA, etc. (I have a much longer list if anyone wants it) There appears to be between 2 and 5 threads per day on illegal immigration (do a search) not the 75 or 100 as some say.

If you feel as strongly about this as I do, then you will agree that there's no time like the present to get started. I believe that GWB will continue doing a great job on national defense and the war, but, as we all know, we also need to start shifting some resources to beefing up our border security. How do we do this?

Well said, thank you.
The only thing I have to add is this: anyone who has lived in Southern California knows full well that there has ALWAYS been a large Hispanic population here. In other words, "Juan and Maria" already live here legally, and it's never been a problem.
The other problem with playing the race card in the illegal immigration issue is that it sidesteps how the Hispanics who are here legally, the ones who have taken the lower-paying jobs, are the ones most affected by illegal immigration driving their wages down even further. To think that "being against illegal immigration is anti-Hispanic" doesn't take this into account, and is a racist conceit in itself.
And to those who keep bringing up skin color to remind us that "Americans are such racists," let's not forget that the ruling class of Mexico is primarily light-skinned Spaniards. ("Oh, but they're Mexicans, they couldn't possibly be racist, not like big bad evil America..." - yeah, sure...)

Thanks for your post, but unfortunately there are folks here who apparently don't care. I feel so uplifted when I see the "daily dose" pics of our president and his wife and family, but I will not support him in this idiocy. I fully support him regarding the war against terrorism, however.

Hah! You should have seen it here in 1998. There was no accusation too wild to be believed and added to the catalog of the Administration's crimes. We looked a lot like DU does today back then. Fortunately, FR has grown up quite a bit. ;)Although FR was NEVER as wacko as DU is now, there is some truth to that. I remember battling attorney Jack Thompson (now famed as the video game industry's least favorite lawyer) as he spread his never-proved allegation that Janet Reno was a drunk driver, a purveyor of prostitutes, and caught on tape with the latter. He turned on FR after JimRob booted him for posting multiple threads smearing Dan Burton (again, without a shred of evidence).
I remember A+Bert, who seemed to seek out threads in which Buchanan was slighted, and attacked with a full quiver of insults. Drudge de-linked FR after the Danny Williams allegations were too prominent. Several Freepers (including the great Connie Hair) fled after Alan Keyes came under vicious attack.
I am pleasantly surprised, however, at how little the expanding membership and exposure of FR has diluted its overall quality. Nobody does it better than Freepers! Ask Dan Rather!
