It wasn't as bad when we lived in Bensonhurst, but right now the building we reside in is adjacent to a huge garden, which provides all sorts of amusement when it starts to pour.

Oh, ick! Bill and I just moved the stove to sweep under it - the ants were in heaven with two years worth of crumbs that had fallen between the counter edges and the stove, along with sauces splashed underneath the front!
Now I'm going to go spray with ant killer. Death from above!

There were even minuscule cobwebs-along with tiny spiders-growing within the crevices of my bathroom a few weeks ago.
New York City has some fascinating specimens of vermin though.
Norway rats, for example.

Eeeik! I don't mind spiders very much, but the rats would be WAY too much.
We don't have as many spiders here as we did in Oklahoma. I expect it's because this is a new house - better seals on the windows and doors, and so on.
