UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The Bush administration has confidence in U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and is not calling for his resignation, U.S. Ambassador John Danforth said on Thursday.
Several Republican congressmen have called for Annan's resignation, accusing him of presiding over corruption in the U.N. oil-for-food program for Iraq, administered by the United Nations but supervised by the 15-nation Security Council.
But Danforth said he was representing the opinion of the White House and the State Department in supporting Annan.
"We are expressing confidence in the secretary-general and his continuing in office," Danforth told reporters.
"No one to my knowledge has cast doubt on the personal integrity of the secretary-general. No one," Danforth said. "We have worked well with the secretary general. We anticipate working with him in the future."

Mmmm..is it the same reason why he doesn't stand up against illegal immigration? I wouldn't exactly overestimate him either. The UN shouldn't even be here, much less be funded with our money. Supporting the UN and Annan is just being consistent with his globalist philosophy.
Okay Cap.
Forget WWII.
I'm gonna try once more with a question *I* want answered.
How old ARE you?
You don't have to give me an exact number.
Just a range.
"Cos i gotta tell you, you're coming off REALLY young.
Makes a difference on how I handle you.
And THAT, too is a question nopardons asked.
you are being silly. knowing details about the post ww2 rebuilding of germany is not significant when discussing our current effort in iraq. they are very different situations with very different people. i am not questioning your claims about our efforts in rebuilding germany so there is no need for me to start taking a test on it.
we wont be able to make a democracy out of muslims. the odds are so stacked against us it would be like winning the lottery. its a gamble. i dont think its our governments job to gamble our money otherwise id support taking social security funds to las vegas and try to save it by betting on black.
we want democracy to take hold in iraq and spread throughout the muslim world. not going to happen.
My pleasure,dear. :-)

I hope that all is going smoothly with the house sale.
Look kid,you are just digging such a deep hole, you are never going to be able to extricate yourself.FYI...what you just said about Iraq,is what was said about Germany and Japan. Those who said that almost 60 years ago, were just as wrong back then,as you are right now and they knew more than you do.
Okay, let's,by all means, forget all about WW II! Instead, let;'s talk about WW I,what transpired in Paris in 1918 and what the aftermath of the Treaty of Versailles wrought.Oh and yes,one really can trace ALL of the ills/wars/problems of the rest of the 20th century and the very early years of the 21rst.at the feet of Clemenceau and Woodrow Wilson and to a much lesser extent,Lloyd George.
The ONLY "silly" person here is you!
Okay, I gotta ask:
What is GMTA?
In theory at least, we have a Closing Date of 17 December at 4 pm.
I am being cautiously optomistic.
*IF * the sale go though, I will post a Virtual Party thread and tell everybody on the UT, in the Canteen and a few other places to come and help me celebrate!
( Since SO many people here have offered advice, prayers, laughs and support that I simply MUST take the opprtunity to say "Thank YOu" to everyone. )
So dust off your Virtual Ball Gown, because this will be a very swanky deal!
:-)
Again, thank you.
Wouldn't due for people to think I have a heart.
Would ruin my image and all that.
/ joke joke.
Heck, I'd be happy if he just gave a clue about his age.
Although I think his silence on that topic speaks for itself
Oh boy,oh boy...great news! I'm crossing my fingers and saying a quick prayer for you and the closing! :-)
May I wear my great grandmother's diamonds to the party? Tell me,do you think that they'll go with my PJs? Oooops...you said ball gown;never mind. I have to type in a ball gown? ROTFLOL
Zipped lips don't sink ships. :-)
Great Grandma's diamonds sound PERFECt,
And of course, if you really want, you can wear your jammies!
After all, we ARE the Pajmhadeen!
Fuzzy slippers optional.
Thanks for the prayers.
It's going to be a long week!
Darksheare remembers who I'm referring,I'm sure.We really had quite a time of it,on the thread that the poster was on,who was so like this one.
LOL!!
There were several like that.
But one in particular who kept referring to you as "He" and me as "deary" stands out quite well.
And when he'd get ranting, he'd suddenly disappear as if dragged from the keyboard kicking and screaming.
We certainly ARE the Pajamahadeen and I have my fuzzy slippers on right now. LOL
Well, being on FR should be able to make you forget about it all for a bit;at least. But I have to admit,it's kinda hard to type with my fingers crossed for you. hehehehehe
:-)
Doesn't this newbie sound just like him?
