The deer hunter accused of killing six hunters and wounding two others in the woods of northern Wisconsin is believed to have resided in the Toledo area as a youth and attended Jones Junior High School.

Chai Vang, 36, of St. Paul, is listed as a student at the South Toledo school during the 1982-1983 school year, according to Toledo Public School documents.

Willie Braggs, a social studies teacher at Jones, said he remembers Mr. Vang as a student. "He was in my class in 1982 and he seemed like a pretty good student," Mr. Braggs said. "It was a real shock [to hear of the shootings]."

A wave of Laotian refugees was brought to the Toledo area in 1979 and the early 1980s. They were resettled here with the help of church groups and other local sponsors. It was not clear yesterday when Mr. Vang's family came to Toledo or when they left.

By 1994, only about 35 Hmong families remained in the area, largely because many families moved to other cities where there were more jobs available and larger concentrations of others in their ethnic group.

About 24,000 Hmong live in St. Paul.

and then let him sqaut on your land and as soon as you leave he turns and steals from the shack that is on the property. you seem to lack the concept of property rights too.

Great idea! We can bring back the CCC while we're at it.

Are you him? No! So how can you know his intentions?

Neither did these hunters who were on their own property, and the had a concern with Vang being there and were protecting their own property. See there is a pattern developing here. It was not Vang's property he was not suppose to be there. He was asked to leave. He shot people. Tell me how the police or game wardens would have been able to stop that whole incident from occuring?

Well, don't sit there and harrass him by telling him your going to call the cops! Just call them! leave the scene, and the cops handle it! DAMN!

I'm just shaking my head now. Please don't harass the trespasser, you may make him mad. If he is raping your wife should you leave and call the cops and wait? I know its not the same but it is the same logic. This POS deliberately broke the law, refused to comply, and shot unarmed people for it. I suspect deep down you believe that this was a bunch of racist rednecks who picked on poor Mr. Vang thus exp laing (not excusing) his actions. This once again illustrates you lack of understanding of N. Wisconsin people and culture. Don't buy this MSM propaganda of "racial tensions". There evidence consists of one fistfight in MN. Did some Hmong trespass, yes but most left without any incident when it was explained to them. I have lived in this area most of my life except when I was in college for nine years in Minneapolis and Chicago and I found much more racism in those so called "enlightened" areas that N. Wisconsin. I grew up in a neighborhood that was largely Hmong and played on the same soccer team. The vast majority of people up here have positive regard for the Hmong people because they are hardworking and family orientated which is consistent with the values here. If anything people understand their confusion and are MORE patient with Hmong than others in these situations. You really need to know this area better before making these assumptions.

Surprising, I thought he'd let the cops handle it.

yes, you right the police are trained to handle situations like this, but by the time Vang started shooting after he was asked to leave, the police would not have been there. And if the police were called it would have taken then at best at least 5 to 10 minutes to respond in the best case situation. and in that time Vang would have probably still pulled the trigger anyway.

Once again are you Vang. No! you cannot say what he was going to or not going to do. And that was the same issue these hunters faced.

Homemade chicken soup is the best for warding off the flu, social diseases, the plague, and a bad sex life.

Make sure you start with a fresh hen, boil covered on low for an hour in a large dutch oven or soup pot (put some spice in the water, e.g., garlic salt and pepper).

Save 2 and 1/2 quarts of the chicken broth.

Debone the chicken (it will fall of the bone) and cut into small chunks or shred it with your hands into small strands.

Cut up some onions and celery and blanch in the pot you cooked the chicken in. Put a large tomato in about 3 minutes before the onions and celery are tender.

Put 3 cups of peeled baby carrots in a covered microwave dish for five minutes (with 1/4 cup of water to keep them moist).

Open a can of stewed tomatoes and throw it (in the pot).

(At this point, you can add 2 cups of your favorite other vegetables - cook them first so they won't overcook and become mush.)

Put the broth and chicken in the pot.

LAST ITEM: Put 5 cups of fresh spinach leaves (I pick off the stems) into the bubbling soup pot for five minutes (until wilted).

Now eat this. It will cure all that ails you. If you eat it every day for five days you will lose at least three pounds and feel like a million bucks.

~Season's Greetings

THE HUNTER SHOULD HAVE NEVER TALKED TO VANG!

So now a guy comes onto your property and you shouldn't even talk to them? Oh for crying out loud. Like I said you need to know this area better. I bet they talked to dozens of people over the years that were on their property and probably many Hmong people also. They did worry because its so common and nothing like this happens. Lets be clear the problem wasn't these guys asking someone to leave their property the problems was he shot and killed unarmed people in cold blood.
