The deer hunter accused of killing six hunters and wounding two others in the woods of northern Wisconsin is believed to have resided in the Toledo area as a youth and attended Jones Junior High School.

Chai Vang, 36, of St. Paul, is listed as a student at the South Toledo school during the 1982-1983 school year, according to Toledo Public School documents.

Willie Braggs, a social studies teacher at Jones, said he remembers Mr. Vang as a student. "He was in my class in 1982 and he seemed like a pretty good student," Mr. Braggs said. "It was a real shock [to hear of the shootings]."

A wave of Laotian refugees was brought to the Toledo area in 1979 and the early 1980s. They were resettled here with the help of church groups and other local sponsors. It was not clear yesterday when Mr. Vang's family came to Toledo or when they left.

By 1994, only about 35 Hmong families remained in the area, largely because many families moved to other cities where there were more jobs available and larger concentrations of others in their ethnic group.

About 24,000 Hmong live in St. Paul.

Why? It is quite within the realm of possibility.

He hunted down and killed eight people. Seven were unarmed. They did not, with the exception of the first two, come to him. He could have walked away at any time. Instead he hunted them down.

Do you think he would have behaved differently after killing two police officers then he did after killing two hunters? Is that logical?

democraticunderground.com

it's a seething mass of insane maggots
general rule, don't link to DU threads in FR posts.
When Rush mentions DU on air, the traffic always crashes their servers, which is funny.
DUers consider FR their arch-enemy, but truth be told, they can't hold a candle to FR, so it's laughable.

I would like to know what your definition of a "check in station" is. Up here, our check in stations may be a gas station or a bar. It certainly isn't a place where the LEO can be readily found. And as isolated some of the hunting areas are, you're talking quite a trip back to a village or town to reach a check in station.

Also, I just learned from a close relation that cellphones were useless and the cabin had no phone. That's how isolated the area is.

"selected outtakes" of DU threads.
So we can laugh at the insanity. If you don't laugh, you'll cry that there are people in this country that believe what they do.

None of what was or wasn't said was a reason/excuse to shoot anyone over, I'm sure we all agree on that.

I hope so. :)

But that did set me off. And if it isn't blaming the victim it is to close for comfort. As I keep repeating this guy hunted down and killed six unarmed people. The first two might have been impulse. The six that he hunted were not.

When you are dealing with that kind of person all the people skills in the world are not going to save you. So why disparage them by saying that?
