This is in my neighborhood. I wouldn't be so sure that this isn't a publicity gimmick. I question whether this is true. Sounds like some a@#hole opened a restaurant and is trying to get free press by creating a false scandal. If it hits the MSM, the place will be packed.

It's been years since I've been in New York, but I'd think a place that trendy and popular would require reservations, and if that's the case unless another name was used, the management would have known in advance who was coming. I'm not so sure this happened either.
