There's no reason we can't all just be friends.
You know, Democrats have very little infighting, at least that we can see, because they know they can't afford to. We can't afford to, either, but we do it anyway. It's suicide.
You're in Illinois now? Temporarily, or permanently? Are you going to start rooting for the Bears? (I'm a Packer fan. A major, major Packer fan. Answer carefully. LOL)
Keyes has won primaries. Keyes has held appointed office. Jim "Taliban" Oberweis has done neither. Your enthusiasm for milk dud is admierable, but the party has the nominee. I would get behind Oberweis if they picked him, you should get behind Keyes.
>> Yes,Keyes IS a carpetbagger and it WILL be used againast him. <<
Bobby Rush is a carpetbagger from Georgia. His Republican opponent is a lifelong Chicagoan born on the south side in the 1930s. It's used against Black Panther Bobby EVER election. Do you think the voters of the 1st District will dump their Georgia peach anytime soon, eh?
>> But of course Jesse is going to help Obama in this race. That doesn't mean that he's in Jesse's pocket...yet,if ever.
I think you're signed up on the wrong forum, since you seem to be posting the talking points from the DNC forum. Here's another corrupt leftist nut who's funding Obama, I bet you can spin this one too:
Chronicles Magazine thats $60,000 bucks was pumped into the Obama campaign from the Soros clan.... and that was just for the PRIMARY! So why this personal interest in Obama by Soros? George Soros is the consumate globalist hedge fund insider who many say is a global villian and financial parasite.. OH YES!, just ask Thailand! So why would George be personally interested in Obama? Or maybe the question should be asked, "Has Obama sold his soul to George Soros' extreme left/liberal ideology? You say you don't know about George Soros or his ideology? Well then, just read the following well researched article from the conservative Rockford Institute about George Soros:
http://www.chroniclesmagazine.org/Chronicles/February2004/0204Trifkovic.html
Some may say that Keyes is the "carpetbagger" but in my opinion, it IS Obama who is THE "carpetbagger"; the one who went forum shopping for that demographic and political mix that offered the best chance of election. And now he takes money from the global "carpetbagger", Soros. With the likes of George Soros PERSONALLY supporting Obama, what are the motives of those out-of-state liberals who will gain from an Obama victory?
>> Have you ever worked on a campaign,in Ill.for a BIG election? I have...for Reagan,Bush the elder,and Thompson,to name but a few. <<
Fitzgerald in '98, O'Malley in the 2002 primary, Birkett in the 2002 general, and that evil bastard Alan Keyes in the 2000 primary (where his vote total here was the highest of any state in the midwest) to name a few. They all did FAR better than the "experts" predicted. I'm surprised you worked for that "goofy right wing actor" Ronald Reagan. Surely a person with his ultra-conservative views is "unelectable", ya know.
>> Will Chicago go for Keyes? NEVER! <<
Well, let's see...Chicago has been a one-party city since the 1920s, so I'm gonna say "safe Dem". DUH. Reagan himself lost Cook County by a decive margin in 1984, while carrying all of the state's other 101 counties. Gives you an idea how partisan Chicago is. Republicans who win statewide never carry Chicago. Republicans get about 20% out of Chicago these days, but if an articulate minority were to pry some Reagan Democrats (and there ARE Reagan Democrats in Chicago... a few) off the plantation, a Republican could conceiveably get 30% or so out of Chicago. Thompson achived that.
>> How about Evanston? WHEN PIGS FLY TO THE MOON WITH THEIR OWN WINGS! Skokie? I DOUBT IT. <<
You sure seem obsessed with Evanston (mentioning it over and over on this thread), which is one of about 40 Cook County suburbs and likely one of the MOST liberal. Are you one of the RINO party officials who passed for a "Republican" there? No, Republicans are not going to carry a town that worships the likes of Jan Schanowsky, or Evanston's little "mini-me", Skokie.
In fact, Republicans never waste time campaigning that socialist bastion. Perhaps you might try ALL the suburbs on the OTHER side of the city? Southwest Cook County--Evergreen Park, Oak Lawn, Hickory Hills, etc.? These suburbs USED to vote heavily Republican a decade ago, but have been treading Dem lately with increased minority voters in their area. They are very conservative and ALL their local officials -- INCLUDING the Dems -- are pro-life, pro-family, and pro-religion. I should know, I live here. There a ton of conservative-leaning minorities who would consider a candidate who speaks their langauge, but everytime the GOP runs preppy country-club candidates from DuPage, they lose this area.
>> Champaign-Urbana? BEAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Oh wow, you managed the point out the only "safe" Democrat county downstate, which is home to the University of Illinois and liberal academia like Obama, of course. Oh, I guess we have to worry because only 58 or so of the 60 counties in century IL are winnable by Republicans.
>> Hillsdale,Glencoe,Winnetka,Cicero? <<
All winneable by Republicans. In fact, all the local officials in those areas are Republicans. Cicero is also probably the only "heavily minority" region of Illinois that Republicans are considered fairly safe. The GOP machine in Cicero NEVER loses the township, even after Betty Loren-Maltese got indicted . Our first "minority" state Rep. in the GOP is from Cicero.
>>
Soooooooooo, where will Keyes carry the vote? Brookfield,Oakbrook,a few towns downstate? WHERE? <<
Assuming a worst case scenario where Keyes got only 30% of the vote, he'd actually carry about 2/3rds of the counties in Illinois. That is typical of a Republican candidate in Illinois, check your demographics. Where the votes matter, Keyes can win just about every major city outside of Chicago, including Aurora, Peoria (normally leans Dem but likes minorities), Springfield, Joliet, Elgin, and Cicero. He should do well in Winnebago outside of Rockford. There are plenty of people in southwest, western, and northern Cook County who would support Keyes' views far more than Obama. Most of the collar counties go GOP by default and did so in the primary. Any "R" could win them". Most of downstate and northern Illinois will vote for any "R", except Rock Island and Champaign-Urbana. Southern Illinois is a problem, they talk super-conservative but vote for the likes of Blago, but then again they only make up 2% of the state's population.
Keyes has a huge uphill fight on his hands, and Obama would be the clear winner if the election was held today, but a lot can happen in 90 days. As it stands, Keyes disadvantage has nothing to do with him, and everything to do with the RINOs slitting the throats of good people like Peter Fitzgerald, Jack Ryan, and Mike Ditka. I have no doubt though, that Keyes is a stronger candidate than any of the other 10 laugable "finalists". The "carpetbagger" Keyes already got more votes running here in 2000 (against a sitting Governor and U.S. Senator) than half the candidates in this year's Senate primary got against businssmen who had never held office.
Since you seem to be so eager for an Obama victory, it looks like you're on the wrong forum. I suggest you try www.obamaforillinois.com , where you can tell the crack-smoking socialist from Hawaii how much better he is than the opposition.
THANK YOU!
People forget we are at war--at war not just with terrorists, but against the party that the terrorists would rather see win. We ALL must get involved and defeat the Democrats, particularly in Senate races!
Always been a Cub's fan...LOL...
How's that for avoiding the question? ;-)
Actually I'm just passing through IL tonight. On my way to my daughter's wedding in northwest MO on Saturday. Have to pick my eldest son up at the airport in Omaha today.
But I do expect to be in Chicago Sunday for the festivities. :-)
Psssst... hey WG... you can start by changing your tagline!
Well, congratulations, EV! And remember, you're not losing a daughter...you're gaining a campaigner! ; )
Great post.
LOL...
I asked her the other day, "What if I don't want to give you away?! What if I wanta keep ya!?" LOL...
I got the old "DAAADDD!"
;-)
Awwwwwww...LOL
Sincerely - congratulations, EV.
Thanks!
Yeah, baby! As for me and my house, we'll be going with Keyes.
Exactly. We have to keep in mind that only a small percentage of the population has heard him speak. Once he's heard by millions, the media will have a hard time characterizing him as a wacko.
One would assume, considering that they've put in place an almost 100% pro-abortion speaker slate for the convention.
But I guess the good Lord had other plans.
In 1980 Reagan took Massachusetts because of the crossover Democrat vote. Keyes will bring a lot of crossover votes.
No one has ever presented the conservative case as well as Alan, including Ronald Reagan.
