Piper,

Not knowing what the teacher teaches, I can't guess about why they ordered the mercury.

It is heavy, so 4 ounces in volume, might be as little as
a couple tablespoons.

I had fillings made with mercury and something else, the dentist used the palm of his hand to mix it in, made a putty and filled the hole.

Electric switches had mercury in them.

It will pick up fine metal and then you can heat it and cause the mercury to separate from the gold or other metal.

It is used in treating seeds for disease, and used that way kills people if they eat the treated seeds.

In the old mining books, it said to hollow out a big potato and fill the hole with your gold charged mercury, and then bake it on a very high heat camp fire, to cause the mercury to release the gold.

Of course eating the potato or breathing the fumes, would kill you.

It is like everything else, "It's good for you" no, "its bad for you"............LOL

I laugh at cigarettes, the other day a test said they were good for your nerves.

The doctor started my Mother to smoking, 60 years ago for her nerves........She wasn't good at smoking, so I started in smoking them for her.

I see no reason what so ever to call for evacuation for 4 ounces of mercury. Look and see which liberal was in charge of that.

It is at least as thick as yogurt, so how could it be a danger?
