"detecting and defusing IEDs in Iraq?"

There's a FReeper in Iraq working as a contractor who's been in contact with me on story ideas for a possible script. He's saying that the first IED's were explosives stuffed into animal corpses (big dogs, goats etc) and when they ran low on those, other items. I'm hearing that any potential IED is being just "blown in place" Nobody is trying to "defuse" anything.

I'm looking for someone in the IED defeating business. I can't discuss my idea on an open forum or non-secure line. I'm not being coy. It's very simple and easy to implement. It's also easy to defeat IF AND ONLY IF the bad guys know the trick.
