I have American friends who think my accent is hilarious. They are always saying "you sound so posh!" The weird thing is the difference in terms and expressions. For example, last time I was in the states, my friend came to the hotel room and said she'd left the car "idling" outside. I didn't know what the heck she was talking about. I would say the car is "ticking over." I can think of many other examples.
