I am Catholic and I am glad that this statement was put out. If JPII did not approve of it, it would not be stated.
This article is from Ha'aretz, and there isn't a single "Catholic intellectual" included as a source for the statement. There is nothing in the article to suggest that the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church had anything to do with this statement.
Wrong. This merely follows the MO of Karol Wojtyla. He didn't say it, so he can deny it down the road, should substantial objection be raised.
Bear in mind Karol Wojtyla has been a staunch supporter of child bomber Yashole Arafat, while condemning anything and everything America and Israel have done.
Karol Wojtyla's silence on the slaughter of Christians and the decimation of Christian Churches by muslims in Kasovo has been deafening - and an embarrassment to the Roman Catholic Church.
Defender of the faith he is not. Say China. What a guy. A celebrity wannabe? Definitely!!!
