Actually, I don't even live in Mecklenburg County ... I have an out-of-county library card. Which means nobody in Mecklenburg County read "Knowledge and Decisions" in the last 12 months.

We went to a Revolutionary War encampment this afternoon

Cool! That's what I like when I visit the East Coast and the South -- real history. Here in Los Angeles, if something has stood for 50 years it is considered to be a relic (the movie "L.A. Story" is very accurate on that and a lot of other things).

Piffle! You were Sneaking! Now I expect you to buy a copy of Knowledge and Decisions, and read it before this time next year!

Yes, being back east does mean lots of Revolutionary War and Civil War. There wasn't much in Oklahoma, although the Indian stuff is cool.

The people we met today were all excited about the upcoming 225th Anniversary of the Siege of Savannah, GA, coming up October 8-9. It's a big thing, re-enactors from all over the Eastern Seaboard will be there. (We'll be camping with our Cub Scouts at King's Mountain battlefield that weekend ... well, I'll be coming home to sleep with the babies, but some people will be camping.)

The 225th Anniversary of the whole Revolutionary War has been going on since ... 2001 :-), so there's been a series of big events all over the East. Yorktown 2007 will be the conclusion.

I believe it. I often wander by here on my way to the bathroom.

How fun for you. I envy you, but not so much that I would give up my So Cal weather! :)

It's nice that the U.S. is big enough to make everyone happy! I have no desire for Southern California weather ... we lived in San Diego from 1970-75, and that was plenty!

You know. It's what bibliomaniacs do. They never go to the library because they have their own library.

We are the heirs of the Oriental dragons, hoarding not gold but knowledge and wisdom.

Although gold is nice too and maybe a few pearls. Some silk, a nice china tea set to drink my tea out of.... Just the basics

This has got to be one of the longest threads in history - anywhere!

Welcome to the Undead Thread!

And nope. The Hobbit Hole, I'm told, did that. This might be the longest zot thread, however. We're on our way to the Ultimate Limit: "Last Post 65535TM".

Lol!
Or, our gold isn't real glittering metal, but dusty tomes covered in arcane scribblings and wry wit, forgotten sayings and tales of heros rescuing fair maidens.

Have you been poking around my bookcases again?

Gold is pretty but that is about it. Gold will not challenge you to look at things in a new light or make you giggle at ridiculous human foibles or hold your breath as you race with the hero wondering if you will make it in time.

That is true treasure.
