Ok. She's an adult. She is considered responsible for her own choices. Unless you want to raise the age of consent to 37 of course. In reality, there is no legitimate age of consent for intrinsic evils like pornography and abortion.
Intrinsic evils should be criminalized. The only subject for debate are the penalties that should be applied.
The "sweeps" argument is a red herring because last night's program was a public service.

Politicians who interfere in the consensual conduct of peaceful citizens have undermined the basis for America, and should face the traditional punishment for attempting to weaken one's country in the face of the enemy.

In reality, there is no legitimate age of consent for intrinsic evils like pornography and abortion. Oh, I agree. Now we need a War on Pornography to augment the highly successful War on Drugs and the triumphant War on Poverty. After all, if we don't act, who'll save the children?

In reality, there is no legitimate age of consent for intrinsic evils like pornography and abortion. Interesting how you throw abortion in there even though it has nothing to do with the topic. Ok I guess you're one of the government-in-the-bedroom types then. End of discussion.

Or are we to hear your pronouncements and rest satisfied that Authority has spoken?

And I suppose you are the one who defines "pornography" for the great unwashed right?
To: Aquinasfan
Intrinsic evils should be criminalized.
Please define intrinsic evils. And specifically, since you are talking about criminalizing them. Does it include pre-marital sex? Does it include oral sex between married partners? Does it include group sex? Does it include cutting someone off on the highway? It's easy to say that "all things wrong should be illegal, but much harder to qualify.

In reality, there is no legitimate age of consent for intrinsic evils like pornography and abortion. Intrinsic evils should be criminalized. The only subject for debate are the penalties that should be applied. In the real world, a government with the power to criminalize porn as "intrinsicly evil" also has to power to punish "criticism of homosexuality" or "racially offiensive speech" or "general politically-incorrect attitudes" as being "intrinsicly evil".
Be careful what powers you choose to give government, particularly at a time when those who oppose your value system are the ones with the political power

And if those that do not believe in God are elected and in power that they should have the right to prohibit people from from joining a Church because, according to them, that is an intrinsic evil?
What about guns?
What about webboards (like FR)?
What about drinking?

Are these the only "intrinsic evils" which should be criminalized? Or are there others as well? Just curious.
