"I'm just wondering who started this whole thing and how it reached Megan in her Catholic school," Michelle Stecher said. "I mean, I told her about the birds and the bees, but this is too much.

"I want the school to know what's going on with the kids and put a stop to it."

I would start by maybe..........disciplining your daughter!!! The mom is so outraged, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out the little girl sits in front of MTV all afternoon without objection of her mother!

What a crock. Same thing was said back in my day about the color of the bandana one chose to hang from one's back pocket. And I believe it just as much, which is to say not at all.

This sounds like exactly the sort of bogus non-story that the media would jump all over and try to exaggerate to absurd proportions. I highly doubt there is an epidemic of bracelet-inspired sex sweeping across the nation's prepubescents.

My 11 year old daughter brought these bracelets home from school just a few weeks ago..she wore them for a while but they have spent most of their time on her floor.

When I saw this article I called her down from her room and read it out loud to her..she immediately went up to her room...found them and said we need to get rid of these things..she hadn't heard about what they really meant. She handed them to me nand we cut them into pieces and they are now right where they belong...in the trash.

I am very proud of her...for her reaction when she found out the truth..no arguing or bellyaching..she knew the right thing to do and she did it. With Jesus in heart..she didn't have to think twice.....

Catholic Schools

Possible Urban Legend

Yuk, I certainly hope this is an urban legend, but I doubt it.  There is an epidemic of gonorrhea and STD's of the throat in many inner cities, seems the girls who are inducted into gangs must be initiated and perform.  I wonder how many of these girls and boys and their parents attend church weekly.

Although Megan says that neither she nor any friends of hers are actually having sex, she is savvy to all the graphic sex terms and the corresponding colors.

Kind of what I figured. Little girls who are trying to act grown-up by talking about various sex acts but then not actually following through with doing the sex acts (thank goodness).

The quickest way to stop this is for the mothers and the (blech, that's me) grandmothers to start wearing these things.

Granted, they'd have to come up with something new, and granted, it wouldn't STOP the problem...but hey. Who wants their grandma wearing these?

Then beat the tar out of them.

I don't think most of the girls wearing these bracelets are aware of the meaning of them. At least in my town, for the girls who wear them (and it's not the majority) it's just a hip fad.

Megan Stecher, 11, a fifth-grader who sells the $1 bracelets to her classmates at Holy Child Jesus School in Richmond Hill, Queens, for $1.25 said her teachers are not aware of what they symbolize.

Before I saw this sentence I thought Megan should be sent away to a convent school. Aaaaccckkk!!!

Megan's mom wonders where this all started and how the kids got so educated about sex. "I'm just wondering who started this whole thing and how it reached Megan in her Catholic school," Michelle Stecher said. "I mean, I told her about the birds and the bees, but this is too much.

It started with the phrase "oral sex is not sex," or "I did not have sexual relations with that woman..."

"But when I found out, I was outraged. I sent her to Catholic school to avoid things like this.

According to the story, this idiot's daughter is the one who BROUGHT the bracelets to school to sell, and is spreading the word about their 'meaning'!! She picked it up in the neighborhood, NOT at the Catholic School.
What a twit this woman is!!

Right on - when my daughter attended parochial school I was surprised at how many of her classmates were allowed to watch MTV. Not allowed in my home and never will be!

This culture has stolen our children's childhood. I can't believe what children know about or are into now. I'm 50; I must have been in one of the last "innocent" generations. I barely knew what the sex act was when I was 14.

Umm... try TV and sex education given by the teachers.

Placing your kid in a private school doesn't mean you can conveniently go about lifes selfish interests as an absentee parent.
