Oh I see it's the old, "How do they get socialization?" argument. Pitifully, this makes the whole article seem like a vote for socialism to me.
Make sure you send your child to public school so they won't turn out gay they we will screw with their little heads and make gays perfectly acceptable.
Right.

I just saw it as saying, let kids play. You can accomplish whatevery you need in that regard with sunday school, or just making sure the kids have others to play with.
Lets face it, if we lock up any child and forbit all human contact, there will be issues. I don't believe any true homeschool parents are doing that.

I tend to agree with netmilsmon. Has there been any studies to say that homeschooled kids are more likely to turn out to be gay? Or is that just a subjective assumption?
I don't want to dismiss his point entirely, but the article seemed to go on at length about homeschooling. I'm no expert, but I've not noticed a connection. Most of the gays, I've known went to public schools. And they are more likely to be taught and exposed to homosexual concepts in public school than in homeschool.
So my gut feel is that the article is bunk.

What? The article says, "I'm not saying that home-schooling produces homosexuals. I am saying that parents who home-school have an additional burden of being concerned about these issues."
Considering who his audience is (Catholics) and that they have a high percentage of their kids in homeschool, he decided to speak about it specifically. There are other valid points in the article that have nothing to do with homeschooling. His overall message is that boys need male influences - that, to me, is valid.

I thought this was an excellent article talking about factors in a kid's life. The author repeatedly stressed that he wasn't condemning homeschooling, he was simply pointing out problems that had to be addressed. He even gave solutions to those problems. He's actually trying to help homeschooling parents, and instead of being thankful, you're bashing him.
One of the things that's special about being a boy is that you don't have to take everything as personal criticism.

So let me get this right: As homeschoolers we are to believe our children have a higher chance of being homosexual ,because we pay attention to our children and give them the highest priority in our lives.
And we should believe that children, who spend more of their time in a homosexual driven environment ( see public school NEA), away from parental control ,and influenced by peers and trendy fads, are less likely to become homosexuals.
Okay ... right.
Why are we such a threat to the these people? Could it be that homeschooling actually produces more future patriots than public school does?
Perhaps I would consider a study like this after they had tracked 10,000 home-schoolers for 20 years. Please.. this is rubbish.
I can hypothesize as well: Homosexuals are a product of a lack of parenting, an internal conflict with sexuality, which is caused by too many spankings, parents who were over critical of children touching themselves, umm.. lets see what else?.. Oh , toilet training control issues, and allowing boys to play docter at too early an age.
How is that? Do I get it have it published?
