A hundred years from now, if there is still a United States, black men in gray uniforms will be participants in Civil War battle reenactments. Companies of Confederate soldiers made up of both black and white participants, will be led onto the field by a black man in a gray uniform proudly holding the Confederate Battle Flag. No one will notice.
In a hundred years, but not now.
In 100 years, they won't be doing Civil War re-enactments, they'll be doing Alamo re-enactments with the English-speaking Bad Guys -- the Gringos -- while Santa Ana and his brave troops attack using the official US language of Spanish.
the NPS, just 2 years ago, attempted UN-sucessfully to block the men from wearing rebel gray, to "assure that no persons MIGHT (emphasis mine.)be offended by seeing any such persons" at a memorial ceremony in Gettysburg,PA for ALL the veterans who died in the war.
btw, during TWBTS, there were 3 ALL-black CSA units, with black commissioned OFFICERS leading them. the units were old state militia units, which dated to the War of 1812 period.
by 1863, ALL the large CSA military formations were DE-segregated by race/ethnic group/religion.
