An American Airlines pilot flying passengers from Los Angeles to New York asked Christians on board to identify themselves and then suggested that non-Christian passengers discuss the faith with them, the airline confirmed Saturday.

The pilot, whose identity was not released, had been making flight announcements before he asked that the Christians on board raise their hands, said American Airlines spokesman Tim Wagner.

MM, you and LF aren't from England are you? They think it's rude over there to discuss religion in public too.

More than rude.. For much of european history, 'discussing' religion could get you killed.

Even if it was just one soul the pilot probably was thinking. Christians are trying to be silenced globally...Christians fear sharing their faith because of fear of being mocked or worse. Have you ever been so over wrought with the joy of the Lord? It's hard to contain isn't it? He must of been real fired up to do this..If more Christians got that way occasionally, eh?

The pilot may have acted inappropriately according to company rules...He certainly did not break any laws. As of yet that is...

The first amendment to the BOR guarantees the free "exercise" of religion.

Exercise by its very nature implies a vigorous and open discussion of same. For those who advocate the removal of religious ornamnets and the placement of religion behind closed doors to protect their right not to be offended, I can only laugh.

this pilot should be thrown into a mental ward for life

I am not sure about a mental ward but he should be fired. If this pilot can ask his Christian passengers to talk about Christianity another American pilot could ask Muslim passengers to talk about Islam. Somehow, I do not believe that pilot would find so much support here at FR.

What do you believe happens to those who do not share your faith?

According to the Bible, written in utter infallibility by the Creator of the universe, there are only two options: Heaven through Christ, hell without Him.

If you have a problem with that, your problem is not with me or any other Christian. Your problem is with God. And you will stand before Him one day. Whether you believe that or not is irrelevant; it will happen. Every knee will bow, including yours. Every tongue will confess, even yours. You might want to prepare for it.

Right on Brother. Lets both pray they see the light. Debate with the Godless is even more difficult than with liberals.

How many people have you led to Christ who didnt come to you asking for help or witness?

Everyone wants to find the light. Its the job of those that care to help them realize it and then help show them the path. Even you Dave S, you can be saved. Lift up your heart to the Lord and the rest will follow.

Are you just totally kook or is it impossible for you to ever answer a question posed to you. So far you havent answered questions posed by myself or sinkspur. Are you above answering to us mortals?

These jokers would have shied away from signing the Mayflower Compact or Declaration of Independence for fear of offending the king! Glad our country was founded on men of principle, rather than the spineless that now inhabit its ground.

Our country ~was~ founded by men of principle, men who wanted a country free from the religious warfare/ presecutions of 'godly' european regimes.

Attempts to force religious discussions in close quarters to a captive audience are more than rude..
---- And any pilot unable to understand that fact should be fired.

And you would probably have burned them at the stake for spite sake. Such a christian attitude.

Saving people from whatever hell you believe in is a personal matter- not a service I need provided to me.

Only you and God know for sure, but it sure sounds like you desperately need it provided, my friend. The gospel of Christ is offensive to those who need it most. The Bible predicted your reaction thousands of years ago when written.

I guess we'll just have to disagree on this. I happen to admire the man and would feel much more comfortable knowing the man behind the wheel shared my passion and service to our Lord

As Godless as you say I am, I would rather have a pilot that wasnt going to be raptured away during my flight.
